Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNeither of these were enough of a problem to detract from our lovely stay, but in case it's an issue for others: - There's only a small pavement at the front door of the cottage, and although there's a 30 mph limit, there's unfortunately a lot of people speeding. It requires extra caution when using that entrance - particularly with a stroller. The door at the back is safer, but only accessible by steep steps, so not as accessible. - There's a trade-off with the security of the gated driveway and the convenience on leaving. We did have trouble opening the gate when leaving, but the hosts were immediately available to resolve the issue. It wasn't an inconvenience for us at all and the hosts made it easy during arrival and departure.
From a warm welcome by the host, to the unnecessary but lovely treats left to consume during the stay, and the cozy and comfy accommodation, it was a lovely stay for us all (4 adults and one baby). The hosts were friendly, very responsive and always there if we needed them, while they never intruded during our stay. A travel cot was set up for our baby before we arrived. There is a clear attention to detail. As well as being incredibly clean, there seemed to be instructions and polite/helpful reminders for everything from the bins to appliances. The location was excellent for a wedding at The Great Tythe Barn and the town centre. Walking to either was not a problem, even with a stroller to town. We never felt the need to drive anywhere. The cottage was quiet (despite the road outside) and cozy. It had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen is very spacious. The beds were very comfy. It made for an all round comfortable and relaxing stay. I can't stress enough how wonderful the hosts were!

SpainThe Cottage was super clean and cozy. It was full of details for us and toys for the children. The host was very warm and welcoming. Location was perfect for visitting The Cotswolds, most of the villages were 30-60’ far from the house and walking to Tetbury’s restaurants and shops was only 5’ far.

United KingdomWe had such a wonderful stay at Turnpike Cottage! Perfect location only a few minutes walk into town. Lovely cottage and even lovelier hosts. Elizabeth went out of her way to make us feel at home. We had an excellent morning at Calcott Spa which I highly recommended for a visit. Will definitely come back again!

United KingdomThe gate was a struggle 😂 We couldn't get it to work to leave so it was a case of one person in, one person doing the code.
The cottage was beautifully clean and so comfortable. Elizabeth had made a great effort for us to be comfortable and have what we needed, she was a very attentive host! The cottage is also super close to the town and amenities, a 5 minute walk tops.

United KingdomThis is an absolutely gorgeous cottage! It was fully equipped and felt incredibly cosy, had beautiful furnishings and fittings and a lovely garden. Loved the fireplace. The host responded promptly to any queries that we had and we were very happy to have been left fresh flowers and items for breakfast! All in all we had a great stay and would certainly recommend to others.

United KingdomNothing other than the road is a little noisy being a main road but that’s the location and cannot be changed. However I don’t think we were made aware of that, it may be upsetting for someone people.
The attention to detail and thought that Elizabeth has put into making guests feel welcome is second to none. Also providing things to save having to buy or bring for a few days eg washing liquid, tea bags etc plus extras beyond the norm, milk wine biscuits fruit and breakfast cereal etc were very much appreciated. Very clear instructions snd communications prior to arrival about the gate and the doorkeys were invaluable. The people in the different establishments in Tetbury were also very welcoming, exceptionally helpful and accommodating too. A lovely place to visit.

Location good and walking distance from town. Owner left a bottle of wine and jams for us which was thoughtful. We didn’t consume them however.
