Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was absolutely no parking and the road outside was very busy and narrow. Our accommodation was separate to the hotel. The restaurant wasn't open on our first night. Breakfast did not start until 8am on the Saturday despite most of the guests attending a local rally which started before then. The shower had really bad mould and the room was very dusty. Staff were preoccupied and did not seem equipped to deal with the number of guests, they did not seem to know what was happening with bookings and it was a little chaotic.
The location in relation to our destination was ok. The food in the restaurant was excellent and very well presented. The restaurant itself was very pleasant. The bed was comfortable and the room was very spacious. The surrounding area is beautiful.

United Kingdomvery little to dislike, only comment... On arriving i asked if my friends could have a coffee, the 1st receptionist said yes then a second receptionist said no. Unfortunate contradiction between staff.
Clean, quirky, room in ideal location with all facilities required for a very good price, Very quiet, well decorated with coffee and tea in the room which today is a bonus. I would far prefer to knock my head on an exposed beam than sleep in a plain white box with no character.

United KingdomThe shower was pretty terrible and had no pressure. It was also incredibly cramped. The staff weren't particularly pleasant or polite. The mattress was particularly uncomfortable, and could well do with a refresh
Very clean and well-maintained. Good value for money; I paid £40 a night and felt that was appropriate.

United KingdomIt wasn't clear that you got the key from the pub up the road. They said there was a sign on the door but we went to a different door where a man staying there kindly showed us. It would be better to explain it in the message. The bed was uncomfortable. The tea and coffee facilities could be better presented in nice caddies rather than putting the milk in the mugs.
It was a nice old building with traditional features and it was clean.

United KingdomBeing put on the top floor despite asking for low floor if it was possible and there were empty rooms lower down. The ceiling sloped down and I banged my head a few times. So if you stop here, avoid room 7. Unless you are under 4 1/2 feet tall.

United KingdomMy room was right next to the road but was fine when the roads quieten down. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear your neighbours moving around but again things quieten down at night and I manage to get a good nights sleep
large clean and comfortable room, conveniently located in the centre of town. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and even managed to find a place to park my motorbike

United KingdomNot the room i booked.. Cobwebs on ceiling in the wooden beams.. Kettle dirty on top.. Bed too low and mattress too thin.. Not enough tea / coffee.. Bell outside ringing every hour along with traffic noise through the night.. Had to get the key from the pub across the road.. Didn't see anyone to complain to..
It was somewhere to sleep the night..

United KingdomAfter first impressions, it all felt a bit unloved. Used tissues between the pillows and headboard, one towel for 4 guests, sofas more suited to a waiting room than a lounge and the covers of one were falling off, tumblers only in the kitchenette cupboards. Only having one key was inconvenient. 90% there, and I’m sure of the owners can spend a night in the room they would quickly rectify the missing 10%
Fine for our one-night stopover (2 adults, 2 kids) but wouldn’t rush back for a longer stay. The bed was very comfortable. Didn’t require it, but having a microwave is a nice bonus.
