Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBreakfast was very expensive at £13.50 per day pre booked. I got a letter under the door which woke me up to ask me to tell me my fee for breakfast was outstanding. When I wasn’t having the second mornings breakfast.
So close to the sports centre and free parking not far away.

United KingdomNo problems at all. Everything went smoothly, once i got aver the initial shock I was staying on a University Campus.
Everything was great. However, i was a little shocked when i found out that the hotel and its subsequent rooms are actually on Birmingham University campus. That was never mentioned prior to booking. There is an on-site restaurant and bar available for food and refreshments. The area around the hotel is spotlessly clean. If you are not staying in the actual Edgbaston hotel, then the rooms for Peter Scotts hotel are situated across the road. It is literally a two minute walk. Additionally, you will need to park your car in the multi-storey car park, using the ground floor only. Then register your reg at the reception area in the hotel. If you park in the Peter Scott car park there is a fee to be paid.

United KingdomI missed the breakfasts as I was in Birmingham for treatment and had to fast overnight and spend the following night in the hospital. This was a shame!
I travelled up with my mother. She is elderly. The room we were given was two flights up and the lift was not working. We were moved to adjacent accommodation at no cost. The staff were super friendly. The new room was much better, bigger and comfier. We were thankful for this.

United KingdomNo local amenities or not allowed to use any microwave. TV kept switching itself off had to move into another room very late at night which meant having to repack my belongings. Night safe not working so no meanings of protecting my valuables. Requested staff fix safe whilst out for the entire day but upon my return nothing was done... 👎

United KingdomOnly disadvantage is that rooms are not fully soundproof, however, guests and staff were very respectful and you don’t hear loud voices, so it’s not a huge issue.
Great place, clean, comfortable and very convenient. Great value for money. Location is amazing and very easy to move around from it. There is parking at the place and also another free parking at the sister hotel just across the road which is less than 5 minutes walk. I am definitely returning to this place. Highly recommend.

United KingdomI kept painfully hitting my foot against the metal joint at the end of the bed. The two mattresses which made up my bed were coming apart slightly. I needed actual keys to get into the building and my room. The lift was broken.
A nice (if small) room, overlooking a green space. Located on campus, close to university buildings and train station. The staff were pleasant, and I was allowed to store my bags after checkout.

United KingdomThere seemed to be no way to contact the reception desk (which is another building) from your room. I had a question and there was no welcome pack/letter that explained the use of the telephone for contacting a member of staff. there was an emergency pull cord next to my bed, but this was not an emergency so an alarm was not necessary.
The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and had warm covers for a winter's night. The heating was also very effective and it was a pleasure to be able to control the temperature in the room according to my needs. I was given a ground floor room, according to my request, and I was delighted to see that it also had facilities to catering for my disability. There was plenty of lighting in the room, which has not always been my experience in other hotels. At the end of a work day, it was good to come back to a quiet room, where I could concentrate on completing my work tasks. I would certainly stay here again.

United KingdomUnfortunately other guests in the hotel thought it would be good to argue and play music at 4am. I understand this is no fault of the hotel and security dealt with the matter.
Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast and evening meals were good value for money and the room was perfect for what we needed. Great value for money and we will certainly be returning next time we visit Birmingham.

One is more or less entitled to expect a pleasant room and breakfast, but most important of all was the hospitable attitude of your staff. The total professional competence of all that I met was discreetly veiled by their unfailing readiness to exercise it.
