How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It all just felt very dated. The rooms are large but its all very old furniture and decor. Felt a bit like staying in an old peoples home, sorry....
The one member of staff I saw throughout my visit was excellent. Friendly, polite and professional - very good. Breakfast was fresh and hot - really enjoyed it, good quality.

Size of the bath - I know it is often beyond the powers of the management - but the bath is very small so would be better not to have. On saying that if I had children the bath would have been better than a shower
Reception - booking in - pleasant staff, no waiting about, Breakfasts - very kindly cooked extra stuff when we had a request - organised Bar - lovely area to unwind Room on the whole it was lovely - but heating kept going off at funny times - and it was an exceptionally wet and damp few days we were there - we were out most of the time and if we had been in room more often we would have spoken to staff.

Great breakfast and other food in the on site restaurant. WiFi seemed strong and did not drop out once for me during me week stay. Staff and friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Perfect location for when I'm working in Bridgwater. If you don't want to eat in the hotel there are several food options within 200 metres. (Chinese takeaway, Indian Restaurant/takeaway, kebab shop and a fish and chip shop). There is also a Tesco Metro just across the road for those last minute things.

Hotel bedroom was cold, I had to ask for the heat to be on when I arrived and again during the night.

The staircase up to rooms (with chairlift) was grubby and smelly. Sherry trifle had no sherry or fruit and was completely tasteless, but you can't win them all. Friendly staff who work hard - probably understaffed as they were doubling up on duties.

I thought that the picture on the internet made it look much smarter than it was.

Nothing. We enjoyed everything.
Breakfast was excellent, all you could eat and very tasty, with tea, coffee, cereals, fruit, yogurt and fried breakfast. The dining room was decorated for Christmas and was charming. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were so friendly and cheerful. It was a quiet little escape, in a peaceful village, perfect for our needs. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Parking was plentiful and right next to our room. We did not need easy access but the rooms would definitely be suitable for wheelchair users, with wide hallways, large rooms and wet room style showers.

Nothing really.
A well-located hotel in a quiet village on the old A38, away from the M5. There is ample free parking on-site, and the rooms are large, comfortable, clean and well maintained, if slightly dated in style of decor. The food was good, and with some further attention to details, could be very good, as were the carefully chosen and well-priced wines. But the outstanding aspect of the hotel are the staff. Every member of the team was welcoming, engaging, and attentive to customers' needs. Thank you all for making it a delightful stay!

The staff were very good, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent cleanliness and comfort. The food was superb, really excellent breakfast as well. About a mile from the M5 so great position to break a long journey.
