The add on for parking because we booked through bookings.com we had suggested the place to our family so we had 3 rooms but we all felt the parking charge was unfair we arrived at 4pm went by our car to the wedding we were attending and left by 9.30 am there was plenty of parking so we felt upset by the charge.

Lovely location Nice room and Fabulous breakfast

A long wait for breakfast and we were a little disappointed with dinner.

Great location, full of character, attention to detail, lovely open fires. Big comfortable bed.

We thought it looked a bit tired from the outside.we were totally shocked that after spending over £850.00 for one night stay, between 4 of us,we had to pay a £12.00 parking fee!!!!! Absolutely awful. Nine of us have ever hear of this before.

Like the cozy atmosphere in the dining and bar area, we also had a spacious room. The sofa was a nice touch.

Bar could have a more 'lite bite' element to it as afternoon tea is filling. Get hungry later and only choices are full meals which are a little too much (albeit very tasty!)

Fantastic rooms, excellent food and fantastic staff.

Very expensive for food and watch out for the add on service charge on your bill. We were not asked it just got added. From the rooms we saw all of them are twins with beds pushed together( hate that) and even the quilts are singles joined take doubles. The sink in the bathroom was partially blocked and took an age to drain.

Very cosy with the fires and eclectic layout and areas. Could be seen as a plus or a minus but it's a good hours walk to windermere, great on a nice day.

This is our second visit to the wild boar inn the first time our room was a lovely themed room we decided to treat family for a Christmas trip and this time the rooms were at back of building and more basic lamp light was out and knobs missing from wardrobe . The bar staff were ( female bar tender ) seemed quite abrupt and refused to change a bottle of tonic water as we ordered wrong flavour . We stayed for dinner head water was distant an uninterested in our order failing to mention certain items on menu like sauce to accompany steak over all a certain attention to detail was missing the breakfast staff were on the other hand very good

The property is well situated near Bowness and a few miles from other towns

Although dinner was nice, I didn't find it exceptional for the price and service didn't feel the best we had experienced either. We spend a lot of money on the room booking, the bar and an evening meal then on the way out they asked us to pay another £12 for car parking which we felt was just a rip off to be honest

Breakfast was nice, place is old but room very well refurbished to a good standard

The only thing throughout our stay, was the bathroom (room 31), it was a bit disappointing, not what we would have expected for the money paid. It really does need an upgrade and quick. There was mildew and trapped dirt in the silicone around the bath, some of the trim was all broken and cracked. The shower was very antiquated and I could not get the shower head down to the height I would have liked. The loo seat needed tightening up, it moved all over the place! The whole bathroom seemed a wee bit 'dirty' to us. Please upgrade asap.

The whole ambiance of The Wild Boar Inn was really lovely. The food was really stunning, the staff we came across were all lovely, accommodating and friendly, a credit to the place. The room was really comfortable, well equipped and a huge bed, just one disappointing aspect (see below). The walks through the grounds are very good and lots of information about them, we saw a good bit of wildlife!

The inclusion of a service charge to our overall bill, without any explanation of what it was for. As 2 couples, we would never leave a tip of £60plus for one meal.

Food was amazing, we had the alternative afternoon tea and it was the best I've ever had.

Having to pay £12 to park because we had booked through booking.com - you have no choice but to park onsite as it is off the beaten track. Companies shouldn't use the third party booking sites if they then penalise guests for using them. Drinks are very expensive too

Breakfast was good. Room was pleasant but very warm. OK once I had asked for an electric fan. Bathroom was a bit tired - shower not great.
