Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaGetting to your room was like being in a maze, but they do have elevators if you don’t wish to use the stairs.
The hotel is located close to the city, so it is only a short walk to the town centre and Winchester Cathedral, but it was not on a busy road. We had our evening dinner and also breakfast at the hotel and they were both excellent.

United KingdomI encountered to receptionist the first demanded payment when I arrived did not bring my credit card down to the Spa as I assumed it would be charged to my room for my first Spa treatment, I then encountered a bossy receptionist in the Spa on my second visit who ignored the fact I had already provided my credit card to be billed to, made me feel like a criminal when I had not committed any offence. I told the receptionist a disable guest is hardly going to make a run for it, when they hobble with a cane. I did not like the dead skin floating around in the jacuzzi, put me off using it, tried scooping it out it just kept appearing. got out fairly quickly🤢. There appeared to be walk facilities system I was not aware of as well as guests staying at the hotel which kind of spoilt my experience, I thought I choose a quite time to use the Spa facilities. I did not like a member of the breakfast team asking if I was going to pay for my breakfast, when I previously had my previous breakfast and meals charged to my room which showed on the system I had a registered credit card. Did not see her as the same question to other guests🤔 If I can afford to stay at the hotel and pay in advance for my stay, I would appreciate not being treated as a criminal.😡
The friendly receptionist called Shelly, who listened to any concerns I had and helped me change room as I was too far from the exit to the lift. Shelly also assisted when I was being hounded by a member of the Spa team demanding I pay for my treatment, when I had already set up a self authorise payment against my credit card. Love the fact there was a local bus oppersite side of the hotel, ventured into the town hope to revist on another occasion to view local tourist attractions. Would like to thank Jess the receptionist who helped return my water bottle.

United KingdomWe got lost once or twice in the labyrinth upstairs, attempting to locate our bedroom. Strange, as we had not been confused on our previous visits. The lighting in the room, overall, was just about adequate, but a central ceiling light or stronger side lights would have been better. There were no lavatory rolls provided on one day, and the lavatory itself had a very weak flush. This seems to be prevalent in hotels at the moment. One of the lights above the bathroom mirror was deficient (flashing on and off). I mentioned this but it was never replaced. The bathroom door was too close to the lavatory, making it difficult for taller people (and I am not much taller than average height) to use the lavatory without banging their knees against the back of the (closed) door. The only solution was to leave the bathroom door open, which is not a practice one likes to adopt.
The location (close to the railway station) is most useful if one does not have one's own transport. On the other hand it is a short walk to the centre of the city. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Sufficient space and it contained everything we needed. Bravo for the decent lavatory paper. Normally, in most hotels, it is pathetic. The walk-in shower was good. Breakfast was adequate, although the selection of fresh fruit could have been more varied. Good choice of fruit juices and cereals. The cooked breakfast buffet was acceptable, but 'buffet scrambled egg' never works, in my opinion; scrambled eggs must be eaten fresh. We have stayed at the hotel twice before, and wanted to sample the refurbished swimming area (we understood), but there was no time. We ate in the dining-room on two evenings, with different cousins as my guests on each occasion. The food was very well cooked and nicely presented. Everything was of a decent quality, and the staff were polite and helpful without being too intrusive. Best of all, I arranged for a special table to celebrate one cousin's imminent 80th birthday. LAUREN did a splendid job decorating the table and arranging for a unique dessert to mark the occasion. The other cousin stayed a night at the hotel as well, and his room was conveniently placed close to ours. Not sure if by accident or design, but it was very helpful.

United KingdomPaid £211 per night and then had to pay £12 for parking… absolutely disgusting, especially as the hotel isn’t particularly central to Winchester. Also the weather was forecast to be beautiful early on the day we were leaving so we asked if we could go for a walk and then go back to use the spa as we hadn’t had time beforehand, as it would’ve been more than an hour after check out they refused. Think that’s rather petty, especially as it was a Sunday. Doubt we will book here again, just not value for money.

United KingdomThe breakfast was fine but not as good as the previous hotel at which I had stayed and there seemed to be something wrong with the coffee machine. I mentioned this and was assured that would be looked into
The staff and facilities were excellent. The hotel is next door to a public car park where it is possible to stay for 24 hours, as well as having their own smallish carpark behind the hotel.

Germany- Confusing hotel layout has many corners and in between stairs for whatever reason - Room felt a bit dated but nothing to complain about - Room view to the parking lot, people passing by right in front of our open window - Some used trays and eating plates in front of rooms (just two times)
Nice spa area, was really something to enjoy and not just some tiny sauna to have it in the offering Breakfast buffet was nice Nothing to complain
