Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The building and grounds are nicely maintained. The staff was wonderful and the room and decor were good. Quality TV and good views. Very quiet location. The building is substantially unlevel making walking across my room unusual. I think that many of the buildings in Winchester have settled, and this one is 500+ years old The waste basket had not been emptied from the previous occupant, I found no way to control the room temperature (but it was perfect) Stairs to the 2nd floor above lobby were a lot while carrying luggage. Main complaint was the WiFi in my particular room only worked in one corner. I’d be happy to stay here again.

The hotel charges £12 per night for parking which I thought was a bit steep.
Nice hotel in a great location. The hotel is a bit old fashioned but I like that kind of thing, reminds me of going on holiday as a kid! The room was perfectly adequate & clean. Easy walking distance to all that Winchester has to offer. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food.

had to wait a short time to book in approx 10 mins it was busy
the staff where so friendly and helpful I had a stressful time travelling and the staff were very accommodating and very quickly brought my meal to my room . They also helped me with my luggage and breakfast was excellent as I have dietary needs . Thank you

We were able to be overlooked by a building very nearby and there were no blinds or net curtains so we had to keep the thick curtains shut.
Clean, spacious room and en-suite wet room.

Our bathroom was getting shabby too with toilet certainly not very clean.
Average breakfast food - not special. Tables in breakfast area were shabby and not particularly clean. And not shabby as in shabby-chic.

Car parking £12 per night, but even more expensive in nearby car parks.

Garden view rooms get very hot from the sun being on them making it hard to sleep. Also, was very loud in the evening from people in the garden. Parking is not great, and also £12.
Location is great. Gardens are lovely. Room was reasonable size.

The Location
Room was spacious and comfortable. Location was great as one could just walk to the high street. Breakfast was normal. ON the whole for a short stay was good.

Fine if you don’t have mobility issues. My elderly mother struggled with the various stairs throughout the building.

I prefer a wider choice of food for breakfast, something like porridge. AC was blowing high; I had to ask the staff to turn it off, but it still felt a bit cold in the dining hall. This time, I had a shower cabin in my room, and it was quite small; I kept hitting walls with my elbows.
Location- a very short walk from the High Street and close to main attractions. Clean and comfy bed; clean room/bathroom, tea/coffee facilities, drinking water in the room. The capsule coffee maker was a great addition. I have stayed in this hotel previously and definitely will stay again if I visit Winchester again. And, definitely, good value for money considering location.
