Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy parents room however, although it was super beautiful with a living room, had a smaller bed and the mattress wasn't comfortable. Otherwise everything would have been perfect. It's a shame to go to a hotel and not to be able to sleep because the bed is not comfy.
The location of the hotel was perfect. It's a small town but it was very central. we reserved three rooms. My room had two single beds joint together so it was comfortable.

United KingdomThe only small issues we had was there was only one bulb working in the first room in our bedroom so made it a bit dark when we came in however we just turned the lamp on if we needed to see so wasn’t a massive problem, and the second small issue was parking however we found a car park that was very close so it wasn’t a big deal at all, only had to pay £4 for 24hr parking which is actually fantastic compared to where we live so wasn’t something to complain about! Only a 3/5 minute walk away from the hotel and the weather was nice so we really didn’t mind at all.
The location of the hotel is great, a quick walk and you can find all sorts of shops and cafes/restaurants, the people in the area were all incredibly friendly and helpful if we wanted to find something specific, the breakfast at gales wine bar was lovely and the voucher provided by the hotel meant it was very cheap as well! The room was very cosy and everything was nice and clean. The coffee/tea/hot chocolate and biscuits provided was a welcome surprise, we definitely needed a cup of coffee when we arrived and was wonderful to have them in our room for when we got there! The staff were really helpful in the Gales wine bar, showed us where to park when we arrived and went over the instructions for getting in the room and let us know about the live band that was on that evening(the music was lovely!) overall I would say we had a great stay and if we happen to be in the area again we will be staying here again!

United KingdomWe had room 1 which is rignt next to the car park and the outside bar. There was a band on until 2230-2300 and although is didnt affect us it could be a problem if you had young kids or go to bed early. Unfortunatley the night of the band people leaving were noisy with one particular idiot sitting in the car park revving his bike up to full throttle while his mates cheered him on, pretty much outside our window. I was surprised the staff didnt go out and tell him to stop as they were all about clearing the outside bar. After about 10 mins he went and so did the others and all was quiet again.
A good sized room, cleanliness was good and breakfast was lovely. The location is good for activities based in and around Llangollen, and central to the town for food and shops. Found the staff very friendly and helpful, one even going to the shop to get some strawberries as they hadnt been delivered and my son wanted the french toast, over and above rather than just say he coudn't have it, even though he was happy to choose another breakfast.

United KingdomThe lack of a dedicated reception was unhelpful. I had some difficulties using the coded locks to access the building and my room. Fortunately, friends who were also staying at the hotel were able to tell me about Gales because they had received information that I had not seen at the time of my arrival. The breakfast arrangements were confusing and there didn't appear to be any cereal option. I didn't realise there was a voucher for a reduction on the price of breakfast, until the second night of my stay.
The room was comfortable and well maintained. The staff at Gales was attentive. The very busy young lady there went out of her way to help, when I couldn't access my room on arrival. The cleaners were, also, eager to help. There is some limited free on-site parking, if you are fortunate enough to find a space. Breakfast at Gales was hearty, if you like cooked options. The proximity to the excellent Bistro Lafant, across the road, was a bonus.

United KingdomCar park limited but parked close by for 24 hrs for only £4 so not an isssue. Communication automated although I asked if hairdryer provided ( which it was) only had response about access not answering specific question.
Location superb. Comfy beds. Tea/ coffee provided Room was as described Very close to pubs/ restaurants. We didn’t move far the night we arrived. Wine bar next door great atmosphere. Was concerned about access as had read previous reviews but was good as had stayed in a place using similar method . Would help to be told you need to put your hand over the pad on bedroom door before the numbers appear.

AustraliaI didn’t realise there would be no staff at the hotel. There was little instruction on how to get into the hotel or the room (we were given a key but also a pincode but the room door appeared to have card readers). I messaged the property for assistance but never received a response (to be fair, phone number was provided but I don’t have mobile network to make calls).
The location is great and very convenient for exploring town. The hotel is cute and the room pleasant and clean. The staff at the wine bar were very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomWe stayed in a triple room for one night on Easter. The room was really warm and the beds were very comfy. It was all very clean and the shower worked very well. The location was perfect, in the city centre. There was a bar in the ground floor but we did not hear any noise from it. I definitely recommend it as it's a great place and good value for money.

Beautiful location, very comfortable, beautifully furnished room. Staff (including Gales restaurant) were fabulous and very accommodating. We had breakfast and dinner, and both were great value and good quality ingredients... Very yummy! Highly recommend canoeing over the aqueduct. We started a wee way up the canal and scenery from start to finish was nothing but stunning! Our guide, Harry, who was a local to the area, was excellent, very informative, fun, and chilled. Great combination! Gutted we didn't have time to do the white water rafting.

United KingdomEasy access with door code. Room looked nice and comfortable. Lovely old building. Emails from the hotel in the week prior to my stay were abundant and autogenerated eg. Asking for payment when I had already paid, details of stay but missing the room number. Just one email with all of the accurate information would suffice. Bathroom so tiny that door would not fully open. Heavy swinging light pull cord, no hairdryer. My friend had two vouchers for food in her room, I only had one. Parking is limited so had to park in car park down the road.

United KingdomThe hotel does have a small car park behind, but if you have anything wider than a mini you may struggle, unless your damn good at tight spaces, in my work van, I tried and failed. There is plenty of parking close by however.
Very quaint hotel, a little hard to find if your not looking up at the right point, we drove past 3 times before finding it. Rooms very warm and welcoming, clean, tidy and serviced daily. Breakfast was at the cafe next door and was top notch and reasonably priced.

United KingdomIt was difficult to communicate with the hotel - I tried contacting them in the run up to our stay to check if there was an iron and hairdryer in the room but there was no reply (there was a hairdryer, but no iron). There was an empty packet by the side of the bed when we arrived, although the room seemed clean otherwise. The room was very small and the bathroom was also very small. A full length mirror would have been nice. The hotel is opposite a bar and on the main street which unfortunately created a lot of noise on both nights. We were only there a couple of nights and out for most of our stay, but for a longer stay the noise and small room would not be ideal.
The location was central which was great for exploring Llangollen, the bed was very comfy and there was a good selection of tea and coffee in the room. The room was generally clean and there was a voucher for £6 off breakfast in Gales bar next door which was a nice surprise. Checking in at Gales was straightforward.
