Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe room we were in 27 had paper thin walls, was kept awake Saturday night by a couple next door, who were extremely noisy with their bedroom exploits. We are no prudes but all through the night and before breakfast was a little too much for anyones ears. Glad we didnt have children with us, would have been quite embarrassing.
Lovely location and beautiful gardens, good breakfast and friendly staff.

United KingdomIn the further reaches of the hotel the decor is a little tired.
Breakfast was amazing, staff were friendly. The Hall and grounds are very beautiful, with lovely views. I stayed in a single room which met all my needs. Walls a little thin so I was glad I’d brought my ear plugs. Bathroom was spotless, shower hot and powerful. All in all great value for a comfortable night where I needed to be.

United KingdomOur bed comfort experience over our 2 visits to this hotel haven't been great. The mattresses are very firm and the pillows aren't the best. The shower could have done with a bit of maintenance as was blocking intermittently and also blocked on the rainfall shower head.
Wortley Hall is in a fab location. Beautiful grounds, easy parking and very quiet. It's a very grand building with lots of history to soak up. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The rooms themselves are a good size (we went for the Junior Suite this time). Bathroom good size as well. Good choice of streaming on TV.

United KingdomDon't think there was anything we didn't like apart from children running about shouting at 7am but no fault of the hotel.
Hotel and Gardens lovely, inside a bit tired looking but only to be expected of an old property. Our room had a strange smell, but as soon as it was mentioned, Zara put us into another room, which was lovely and had the most amazing deep bath. Staff couldn't be more helpful and all very friendly. Was lovely chatting to Zara. Breakfast was good, nice selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cooked. Only half hour away from the Yorkshire sculpture park, and an hour from York which we visited. Would definitely go back to stay there again.

United KingdomWe arrived at about 10pm and could not get in. The front door was shut and either locked or jammed, no one on the desk and no one answered the phone. We had to walk round the house and bang on the window to attract attention. It’s a bit fusty smelling and grubby in places. Could do with soap dish in the showers and more towel rails.
Very characterful property with an intriguing history and a beautiful garden. In places it’s been updated - excellent showers, for example. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff.

United KingdomThe mattresses were old and tired, I could feel every spring. The bathroom is a little tight for a man of good stature (shall we say). The toilet emitted a constant hissing noise.

United KingdomUnfortunately dated rooms with dirty windows, stains on walls and carpets, towels with holes are definetly not something what I expected. Unfortunately that is standard which you get if you look for a room in fair price.
