Our bed comfort experience over our 2 visits to this hotel haven't been great. The mattresses are very firm and the pillows aren't the best. The shower could have done with a bit of maintenance as was blocking intermittently and also blocked on the rainfall shower head.

Wortley Hall is in a fab location. Beautiful grounds, easy parking and very quiet. It's a very grand building with lots of history to soak up. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The rooms themselves are a good size (we went for the Junior Suite this time). Bathroom good size as well. Good choice of streaming on TV.

Don't think there was anything we didn't like apart from children running about shouting at 7am but no fault of the hotel.

Hotel and Gardens lovely, inside a bit tired looking but only to be expected of an old property. Our room had a strange smell, but as soon as it was mentioned, Zara put us into another room, which was lovely and had the most amazing deep bath. Staff couldn't be more helpful and all very friendly. Was lovely chatting to Zara. Breakfast was good, nice selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cooked. Only half hour away from the Yorkshire sculpture park, and an hour from York which we visited. Would definitely go back to stay there again.

We arrived at about 10pm and could not get in. The front door was shut and either locked or jammed, no one on the desk and no one answered the phone. We had to walk round the house and bang on the window to attract attention. It’s a bit fusty smelling and grubby in places. Could do with soap dish in the showers and more towel rails.

Very characterful property with an intriguing history and a beautiful garden. In places it’s been updated - excellent showers, for example. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff.

The mattresses were old and tired, I could feel every spring. The bathroom is a little tight for a man of good stature (shall we say). The toilet emitted a constant hissing noise.

Unfortunately dated rooms with dirty windows, stains on walls and carpets, towels with holes are definetly not something what I expected. Unfortunately that is standard which you get if you look for a room in fair price.

Some of the décor inside was a bit tired. It is a beautiful building and has obviously seen better days. Needs a little love in places.

The place is beautiful and the grounds are stunning, but as mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are very dated and it was absolutely freezing, we made good use of the two heaters in the room. Also the mattress dipped in the middle so spent all night trying to prize myself away from my partner. Food delivered to the room was beautiful.

The bed in our room was a small double and not very comfortable. The wardrobe was a single wardrobe with barely enough space for one person’s clothing.

The food was excellent. The DJ and disco facilities for the 80’s night good.

At my age, sadly 76, I would have like the addition of a rail above the bath so that when showering there was something to grab onto were I to have slipped. I didn't thankfully but a rail or similar would be nice and confidence building.

I really enjoyed the short time - one night - that I was a guest of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, dinner was good and the room was spacious, clean and the bathroom likewise.

The bed - mattress was somewhat worn out and I could feel every single spring in it. As everything was so clean, well decorated, I would imagine that the mattress is on the list to be replaced. That said, I did sleep well. A small, minor point was that the bathroom door was hanging off! Fortunately, I always travel (for work) with a toolkit and simply re-tightened the screws, voila, all good.

Very friendly staff with a hotel set in the most amazing location. The room was bright and airy and for the first time ever, I was able to close the period "shutters" on the window to block out light - wow. Very nice buffet breakfast where everything was piping hot. Would certainly stay there again.

Room and bathroom tended to be bit cold as day/night went on. There was central heating radiator on but underneath old window, but long, thick curtains blocked heat. There was a portable heater within wardrobe that was used to heat room, which helped. No heating in bathroom except for heated towel rail. Was cold in bathroom when using shower.

Location is great. Staff very helpful and accommodating.
