Unfortunately the restaurant and bar inside were closed for renovations but that’s not the owners fault

Amazing views, plenty of parking, comfortable room, excellent beer garden and outdoor bar

Shower seal on the screen could do with cleaning. Barmaid in the beer garden needs to tone down her chat, talking about drinking a full bottle of gin at her leavers and p***ing in a sink in a loud voice.

    We liked the location.

The only draw back was that at the time of our visit the bar and restaurant were closed as building work and a refurbishment were being done. It didn't spoil our trip but would've been nice to have a meal and glass of wine, we will definitely being visiting again in the future.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was wonderful with superb views over the estuary. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. We had tea, coffee and biscuits which were replenished daily. The hotel is in a fantastic position for doing lots of good walks.

We were aware refurbishment was ongoing so took that into consideration, couldn't get on the car park but found street parking easy enough. Biggest gripe was the matteress , really uncomfortable and felt springs in my back all night, it is needing changing as your sleep comfort should be the most important thing. Can imagine it will be fab when reopened properly but please sort the mattress and I would be very happy to stay again.

    Lovely view from window

It was a shame that it was currently under renovation, so we could not enjoy the facilities to their fullest.

    Clean simple, nice view.

Because of renovation issues was quite poor because was told temporary bar would be open but never opened also was told a menu for food would be available till 730 by Andy who works there but not his fault he can only say what the owners say nice location comfy room but feel like we were lied too

The outside door kept slamming and a lot of noise on the corridor outside our room.

The room was comfortable with plenty of everything needed for our stay. The staff were really nice. The alfresco meal in the gazebo was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff coped well with having to use the temporary set up.

Great to have electric car charging, but the limited car park meant that they were often iced/blocked.

The staff were amazing, especially the landlord. They were working under pressure as the ground floor of the pub was having to have remedial work after a floor was found to be subsiding. Everything had had to be cleared out and so they were functioning from the upper floors only. I had booked a single room with external bathroom but had been upgraded to a lovely ensuite double. Cooked breakfast wasn't available as the kitchen was stripped out. Continental breakfast was provided in one of the upstairs rooms - as there was nothing I could eat due to my.liw oxalate diet I was given a refund. They actually delivered a toaster to my bedroom for the rye bread I had brought with me! Super location. My room was in the Crown Barn behind the pub, with super views over the estuary. With the pub being closed I discovered a lovely eatery, wine bar called JJ Crossfield just along the road. I was given the choice to cut my stay short and be credited with my unused nights but chose to stay. I will definitely return to experience full hospitality when the refit is completed. The attitude of the landlord was commendable - thank you.
