Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe location in winter is a bit far from the town, which makes a difference when it is really cold. However, taxis are plentiful, reasonble, and the hotel will call one for you. Also, one day the hot water didn't work for hours. We understand that this can happen, but guests should be informed. We were not. When we asked the front desk, the clerk knew nothing about it. When we returned a few hours later, the same clerk told us some maintenance work needed to be done but it was finished, and the hot water worked again. It didn't. We didn't have hot water until at least 2 hour later.
The view was stunning, the staff was very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was terrific (although the choices were limited--only a choice of 2 entrees.)

New ZealandWe had booked a two bedroom apartment but it turned out to have only one bedroom and a fold-out bed in the lounge. The fold-out bed was super uncomfortable and absolutely not suitable for my elderly aunt who was travelling with us. Fortunately they were able to find us a double room for her in the main hotel, which was really lovely, but we had to pay extra for this, even though the original room was not as advertised.
The view was spectacular! Icebergs and whales right outside the windows. The restaurant was lovely and the meals were fantastic, especially the evening meal. Reception staff were very helpful. Ask for a room in the main hotel with a sea view - it is well worth the cost!

Located near the edge of the Kangia icefjord, Hotel Icefiord definitely has a prime location in beautiful Ilulissat. The hotel is charming and was perfectly located. We did a couple of tours where the boat docked right next to the hotel, which made it super convenient for us. The outside patio of the hotel was fantastic, especially when enjoying a spectacular Greenlandic sunset with humpback whales visible right from where we were seated. The food and views at the restaurant were some of the best we experienced in Ilulissat/Greenland and the staff were excellent! The room itself was spacious/luxurious, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was great. Would love to return someday!

United KingdomCool, relaxed, hotel - currently the best in Ilulissat, the view of constant humpbacks amidst icebergs from our room balcony must be the best in the world.

DenmarkReceptionist could be a bit more informative. Restaurant was a bit disappointing. Only redfish was really good. Musk ox was not tender. Cheese dessert was ok, yougurt with meringue and Greenland berries did not taste of much.
The location. Breakfast was good. Nice room.

South AfricaNot a big issue, but for the price you would have expected more bathroom/shower soaps etc. There was just one dispenser in the shower and had no idea whether it could be used as shampoo as well. The room was quite small but if you are in Greenland during summer you should only be sleeping in the room - in that case the size doesn't matter too much.
The breakfast was really good. The staff was very professional and more than willing to assist with any requests and queries. The room was modern yet cozy and the hotel in general had fantastic views of the icebergs. The restaurant was excellent (very highly recommended; just make a booking early). The stay includes a transfer to and from the airport/harbour.

DenmarkFantastic location. Doesn't get any better. Choose sea facing rooms upstairs with skylight and balcony and watch the icebergs from your bed. Rooms fine, food excellent and staff very kind and helpful. Everything is within walking distance. Hike the Yellow Trail and get a breathtaking experience of the Icefiord.

United States of AmericaInternet disconnected a few times, but was never down very long. The holder for the hand held shower head was too high, and not adjustable for height. When facing the middle of the shower, the water sprayed under the large gap in the glass door.
Staff was superb, friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean , modern, and peaceful. View was incredible. Restaurant was the best we had in Ilulissat.

GermanyThis hotel is absolutely incredible! We spent 5 nights here and felt completely at home. The location is perfect in Ilulissat. The starting points of individual tours are easily accessible (also on foot), supermarkets are nearby. Various hiking trails start directly behind the hotel at the small power station, from where you have a perfect view of Disko Bay. From the balcony of the hotel we could see auroras and icebergs. The staff was super friendly and fulfilled our every wish. We would definitely come here again on another trip to Ilulissat! Beautiful hotel! 11 out of 10! :D

United KingdomThe curtains! Synthetic, and we all know what happens with synthetic material and cold - the amount of static shocks we got from handling the curtains to trying to open/close the balcony door! Not a dealbreaker, but a little bit annoying.
Great hotel with a lovely breakfast. Nothing to fancy but just right - although lamb bacon will never really be my thing, but that's just me! :-D We had a room with balcony and view over the fjord and the only niggly bit would be the visibility out of the windows after a stormy evening with salt spray. Again, we didn't bother getting the room done up every day, so it is entirely possible it would have been cleaned if we had. Overall, it's a great hotel, at a very good location in relation to town (Arctic is way out of town and wouldn't have been a very good walk in the cold!) and good possibility of seeing the Northern Lights. We saw them 3 out of 5 nights there - and they were spectacular, and we literally stepped outside the hotel, or saw them from our balcony.

EstoniaGirls in the reception was not too effective. There was some confusion with our bookings and rooms. It took quite a lot of time from them to sort it out, although we had all bookings and papers correct and ready.
Room with the balcony and sea view was perfect, big enough, well decorated. Hotel has well stocked bar with sea view terrace and really good restaurant. We had delicious dinner there. Very good breakfast with local products.
