Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

United KingdomA true hidden gem! Perched on the roof of a building in the heart of Serekunda, it offers stunning views and a peaceful escape. With only seven rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and personal, perfect for those seeking a cozy retreat. The convenience factor is top-notch—there’s even a currency exchange downstairs, so you don’t need to go far to change your money, as well a little hole-in-the-wall style shopping kiosks for snacks dotted around and a casual dining restaurant across the road. The owner, Urban, is incredibly welcoming. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm chat over a cold beer, and his life stories are absolutely fascinating. The hotel's concierge, Abdou, is also a fantastic asset, always on hand to help arrange transportation or help in any way needed. We were lucky to receive a surprise room upgrade, and it was beyond expectations! The room featured plush furniture, a stocked kitchen, and a unique bed with a mosquito net that added both charm and comfort. The bathroom was beautiful, with a separate toilet, a luggage room, and plenty of storage space, including a safe for valuables. Air conditioning is available for £10 per day, and while it’s an extra cost (its expensive to run in the country), it’s completely worth it in the Gambian heat. There are also ceiling fans for additional airflow, and we found that these were enough to keep up cool. The bar operates on a trust system—serve yourself and jot down what you take, creating a wonderfully laid-back vibe. Breakfast, served by Tamara and her lovely team, was a highlight. The spread included yogurt, fruit, eggs, veggies, cheese, bread, fresh juice, tea, and coffee—absolutely worth the £10 per person for the quality and variety. Overall, the Rooftop Boutique Hotel is a fantastic choice. It’s comfortable, friendly, and perfectly located as a base for exploring The Gambia. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and relaxing stay!

LithuaniaAfter visiting 70 countries, I can say that this hotel was one of the most charming I've ever stayed in. Really very beautiful spaces / very helpful team / incredible personality and extremely big heart of the owner. Everything here is well thought out, whatever question, situation, or preference you might have. Nice breakfast, hotel also can arrange airport pickup or dropff. Some say the location is a bit remote, but in reality, it's just around a 20-minute walk to Senegambia and even less to the Monkey Park. During my stay, I never needed to use a taxi. Some commented about strange people on the way, but I - as a solo female traveler - did not face anything of real concern (only people saying hi or trying to sell you something, but that happens everywhere around Senegambia). Also, in the area, just a few minutes away, there are a couple of small minimarkets and a restaurant with really nice food. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

United KingdomWe had an amazing stay at Rooftop for our honeymoon!!. Urban was so accommodating and attentive throughout even when he was away during our visit. All the staff where kind, approachable and accommodating; special thanks to Michy for decorating our room and providing delicious snacks and drinks for our arrival and to Fatou, Yassin and Abdou for taking such good care of us, we had such an amazing time. The room was nice and clean, you felt like you had the whole hotel to yourself as there is good privacy between the suites. You are not far with a short drive to the beaches or the main tourist strip wiithin senegambia and there is a cornershop for small essentials just walking distance too. I would highly recommend you stay here!

GermanyJust minor things, warm water in the shower was hardly existent, WiFi rather flakey, toilet flush had hardly pressure. But nothing to really complain about.
Absolute wow factor. One of the most unique hotels I've ever stayed in. We also received an upgrade to the biggest suite which was great. Breakfast is generous and not at all expensive as some say. How can some people really say 10 Euros are overpriced for such a great meal? It was awesome.

United States* Everything costs extra it felt - the breakfast was €10, turning on AC was €10 a night (which should be stated beforehand) * The location isn’t great. It’s near absolutely nothing and requires a 20 min walk in dust storms to get anywhere * AC wasn’t very strong
* Incredibly helpful staff * DELICIOUS breakfast that’s worth the money * A cute restaurant right nearby that’s cheap and delicious * Huge rooms and very fun decor * Amazing rooftop with plants * Beautiful reading beds on the rooftop which I used every night to read * Very attentive owner who helped us get tours we wanted

United StatesThere is not much within close walking distance. During the day, it was fine to walk but there were persistent hasslers and slightly aggressive individuals trying to engage me in conversation or sell me things while I was walking down the roads near the hotel. I would not have felt comfortable walking more than a few blocks after dark.
This was a wonderful place to stay for a few nights. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the property is gorgeous. Everything is well laid-out and designed with a ton of greenery everywhere. There are numerous places in the public areas to sit or lounge in the in the shade, and coffee and other beverages are available at the bar. I met a number of other interesting travelers (the place is small, so you will run into the same people a lot). There is one decent restaurant within walking distance, many more a short taxi ride away. The owner, Urban, can help arrange transportation from the airport as well as for sightseeing.

NetherlandsThe host is great and really listens an helps wherever he can, offering advice on which tours to do or not, and how to get Dalasi for a slightly better exchange. He also has a great sense of humour 😄 The Rooftop itself is an oasis, great to use as an office for a few weeks, or to relax in the evening. The lights in the evening make it a magical experience to sit and relax or chat with other guests. We have had such a lovely stay here, really recommend anyone to go here as well.

United Kingdom€10 for breakfast is steep. Not the hotel fault but the surrounding road was full of sand.
Great facilities. It looks amazing. It's comfortable. Room is cozy and anti bug. Excellent staff. Good location, considering it wasn't on the beach so didn't go far to the strip. A lot of things were great. Would recommend for anyone who doesn't want to stay in resort and wants privacy.
