The initial confusion of having to move to another hotel. The location was a bit far from all the sights, but it was good value for money and had parking. The restaurant wasn't spectacular, but that's more a matter of personal preference.

Because I had to move to another hotel under the same chain since this one was overbooked, they offered me a free room upgrade, free breakfast, free drinks and free parking to make up for this, and the hotel I moved to was five stars instead of four here. It had a good view (from afar) of the Acropolis.

Our room was smelling terrible through the Bathroom. Odour was permanently coming out from floor holes where the water was supposed to be left. We had to keep the door always closed but when got into the bathroom area, we could not stand the smell. Please fix it. The mirror in the WC was too high, so not many people could see and use it.

• Whilst the rooms were soundproofed, the doors weren’t and they let in/out even the tiniest sounds. This means that you can hear everything from the rooms you are passing, even conversation. This also meant that we were woken a few times between 3am and 5am by guests coming in from nights out as it was a Friday. It wasn’t a huge deal but definitely would disrupt light sleepers.

The hotel is right in the middle of strip clubs, so a little strange. It's about a 30minute walk from the main toursity areas of Athens (not a problem for us!) so factor that in for dinners etc.

Our room in our first stay was a little outdated, but was modern on our return. There was no bidet in both rooms, and the aircon control in our second one was centrally controlled, which we weren't informed of, so despite the nice room, it became warm and uncomfortable. You should inform guests about the aircon control upon check-in. We were able to control the aircon temp in our first stay, Oct 4-8. Our second was on Oct 14-15.

This hotel is situated on a major highway type road. If you enjoy sleeping, make sure you request a room on a higher floor of the building and insist you want a quiet room, in the back or in the middle of the hotel. The first night we arrived, it was 3am, and we didn't sleep at all as they put us on a first-floor room facing the road. It wasn't pleasant. However, by morning, they happily agreed to move us for the remainder of our sta and provided us with free breakfast. The rest of our stay, we slept, which was great😉

The Atheneum Grand is situated about a 20 min walk to the Acropolis, which was perfect. It has a bus stop out the front, and the meteo line is about a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend the breakfast. A huge variety of food is suitable for all everyone. The rooms were spacious and clean and beds comfortable.

The corner of the wall mirror was broken and sharp which was quite a hazard as next to the bed. We were on 6th floor and on our last day there was a power cut (not the fault of the hotel) and we had to use the stairs which could do with some updating and cleaning. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond the hotel’s control our entire floor had to accommodate elderly people from a nursing home who all had their doors wide open and some were obviously not happy. This was quite upsetting for us to see. Also, we were seated in the lounge area of the hotel with our daughter and decided to have a family game of cards. We were told it was against the rules to play there and that we would have to go into a private room if we wanted to continue playing. We asked if we could play backgammon instead but were told no games were allowed. This seemed very strange to us.

Staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. We requested two rooms near each other and we were given a suite of two rooms together. Ideal. Bed extremely comfortable and good size bathroom with good quality toiletries. Good air conditioning. Great choice of both hot and cold selections for breakfast.

The fitness centre needs some updating.

Room was big and cleaned daily. Lots of choices for breakfast. Restaurant and reception staff were very pleasant, polite, professional, and met all our needs with a smile. Room service was excellent.

Junior suite was advertised as a living room plus bedroom unit. There are no separate rooms, just a single room sufficient to accommodate three people.

Very clean, courteous staff, breakfast buffet with multiple options (same spread every day, but variety helps if you are staying a few days), spacious room (junior suite), comfortable beds.
