Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Nothing to speak of … not keen on the coffee offered for breakfast but that just enticed us out to grab one elsewhere .. which was a good thing anyway. Quite a long journey from either of airports, but we weren’t in a rush so okay. Reasonably expensive but that’s clear when booking.
In short .. pretty much everything. Have stayed before several years ago and was concerned that things may have degraded in the same way that the world appears to have done over this time.. but pleased to say standards, facilities, friendliness and helpfulness of staff is if anything even better. Great location facilities and nice hotel size. Also probably not the best place for young kids/teens… but for us that is an attraction.

Beds could use a mattress topper, or an update to make more comfortable.
Nice hotel in a great central location. Friendly & accommodating staff. Clean rooms. Supermarket opposite was convenient, as well as shops, restaurants & cafes only minutes away in the old town or by the beach. Parking close by for only €10 per day.

Sun loungers can be a little uncomfortable ( sitting position) and the pool side can get very busy .. but these are minor concerns. Sea in this area seems to have a lot of red flag events due to wind and currents from the north .. can be a little frustrating on occasion if you like sea swimming but that’s just nature!
Just a really nice hotel in a great location staffed by very friendly and helpful people. Nothing is too much trouble. Our 2nd visit and will hopefully not be the last Many great eateries nearby with very fresh local produce

Nothing it was perfect
Perfect location right on the edge of the old town, close to parking so great base for exploring. Good breakfast with a lot of choice. All staff were really friendly and the pool is fabulous

The parking and drop off were not clear to us, but we got a spot in the private lot less than a block from the hotel and everything was perfect.
The hotel is very elegant and wonderful. The location is terrific. The room was very big and very comfortable. The breakfast was great, with very good variety. There is a nice little bar, pool area and several sitting areas. A favorite hotel for us.

Steets were a little noisy through the night with scooters and smoke from poolside drifted into corridors and room on one wing of hotel.

The air conditioning only just cooled the room.
The rooms were comfortable, the staff were really friendly and the location of the hotel is perfect as it is in short walking distance from the Fortezza and all the old town has to offer. Paid parking is provided near by.

The property is in a fantastic location - a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Nothing - everything was perfect
We loved this hotel, which was perfect for our 2 week trip to Rethymno. It's in the perfect location, minutes from the best restaurants and bars in the old town, but still peaceful, and a street away from the crowds. The pool area was perfect, lovely place to spend some time relaxing, when we weren't off exploring the city and the rest of the island. The staff were amazing and friendly, always on hand to support and help in any way. Just a tip to others - there is free street parking around the city, but if you have a car and can't find a spot, the car park opposite the hotel offers a deal for Hotel Fortezza guests. We didn't know this the first time we parked there, but it was 50% discount. Would definitely return if we come back to Crete in the future, and highly recommend.

The location was fun in old town, and the pool was super relaxing to sit by. Breakfast was good. Facilities are a little bit older, but everything was super clean, and the a/c ran well!

Our 3rd visit, as good as always. Hotel is in a great location near the old harbour and right in the lovely old town. I love the walled garden with the pool, a peaceful spot in the heart of the city. Hotel is spotlessly clean and rooms are a good size and well decorated. Would definitely recommend.

Too much furniture in bedroom, unnecessary low table that screams out "Walk into me". The bar is a waste of time, in 5 days we never saw anyone in it. Uninviting.
Location is fab,much needed car park across the street. Nice street view from 3rd floor. Very clean, reception staff always pleasant, breakfast is okay, staff always replenishing. Mixed clientele, Good air con and WiFi in bedrooms, kettle available. Decent hairdryer.
