Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

HungaryThe older, male waiter (Stratos) had a lecture tone and unnecessary affectation at the PoolBar. We avoided him whenever we could. In the restaurant, we were not able to sit where we wanted to (there were times when the older, male waiter would have sat us in the smoking area with a small child).
The hotel and its surroundings are very beautiful. The young staff is kind and polite. The reception staff is helpful and kind. The pool and the private beach are very good and useful with small children. We always found something delicious among the food.

UkraineThe Russian waitress Natalia in the restaurant is rude. The food is quite monotonous and you often have to wait longer for simple dishes.

United StatesWhile the pictures looked like a sand beach, it is not. The reason for the trip was so my toddler daughter could play in sand and walk in the Sea. Also, there was no map of the facilities or local area. Snack time pizza was terrible, don't recommend it (ice cream was good though)
Staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. Facilities were clean, buffet was actually good. Pool was lovely as was the children's play area. Great for families.

IsraelThe mattresses could have been better, especially in the couch where one of the kids slept. The sea had lots of waves but it could be because it was mid October. Maybe in the summer it’s fine.
The rooms were spacious and well designed for a comfortable stay. The pool area was nice. The hotel is right by the sea. Good breakfast buffet. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Very clean and the staff were friendly.

United KingdomHave been to Hydramis 10 years ago and back then it was good 4 star. It is still 4 star, nothing improved or has been added to make it newly declared 5 star now. If you dont like pork you might be vegan for few days as they don't offer alternatives very often) Pool is still boring and small, feels like 3 star around there. Beach is nothing close to other beaches in Crete, not worth choosing this hotel because of private beach.
It was clean. Staff are great. Location is 15 min to Rethymno, and 35 mins to Chania which I found convenient. Nearby, there is a small street across the road with plenty of restaurants and cocktail bars. It makes sense to take breakfast + dinner, so Half Board. Otherwise you are stuck in the hotel. AC was working, cleaning and laundry were timely and smiley. Close to beaches in the south of the island. Not far from Balos. Far but reachable from Elafonisi. Has bus stop nearby but car rent opens different perspectives of the island.

United KingdomNo kettle in the room as such no options to make that midnight or early morning tea of coffee. We had booked for breakfast only but seemed a wise decision as the food options for meals seemed to be the same each day and lacked variety.
Place was well maintained and clean. A small balcony facing the sea was great. Staff at reception and restaurant were friendly and helpful. The beach is just at the back though lot of pebbles for first 10-15 metres into the water. You got the bus stop for buses going to Chania, Rethimno and Heraklion at about 200m. The road to the bus stop from Hotel is like a service road ( public road ) but no lights.

United KingdomThe beach was loaded with stones making it really tough to get in and out sand dangerous for the elderly guests. The all inclusive drinks on offer were of poor quality and there was very little variety.
The hotel grounds were beautiful with floral decorations. The staff were very helpful and eager to help. The breakfast was good. There was a wide variety catering to all. There were exercises and sports games organised around the pool which was great fun.

IsraelThe attitude of the local staff is more like in a cheap hostel, rather than in a 5* hotel. I felt myself very bad, not what I use to get at good level hotels. Declared "all inclusive" in reality is just an extended full-board. Wines, coctails, snacks in the bars are for extra fee. I asked for a snak in the bar, so barmen started to shout thaе I have to pay! I had no issue with that, and I didn't even say any word, but the barmen treated me in front of the other people, like a mearchant at Laos poor market...

LuxembourgThe staff are not really disciplinated for 5 star hotel and the cleaning in the room is very very far from 5 stars. In order to receive it well good, you have to fight for it! After our complaints of course the hotel apologized and offered us a room with full see view, behind this see view was staying the loud music from the bar until late time. Of course they have mentioned me that nobody until now complaint of it, so I did not dare to say something after all other issues we have past there. if you are young parents who really want to put their little ones to the bed in time and to have your own time is impossible because some rooms of this hotel are exactly on top of the bar and they have very loud music! Or other rooms are under the swimming pools and same problem! I wouldn't recommend it, if you have luxury expectations for the accommodations or silence sometimes. It depends a lot about your profile and what you look for. Regarding their description on their site as well is not really matching reality, they are having serious logistics problems and the little customers are ignored totally. Is more for young couples without kids who want to enjoy their stay never mind how or for some old couples where the heart still feels young, if you want to have a nap there is not possible noises around, works or everytime there is something. Regarding the cleaning we found the room in a horrible condition air control full with dust throwing it in the air! bedsheets with spots and not only. Of course only after our complains we v got better! But it shouldn't be like that. Probably the room was not checked before they gave it to us. When we changed, the room was much better! But still I remained with the feeling that is a bit unpleasant, talking to the owner about this experience I received some comments not really decent I would say.
The hotel is big and the location is great, if you have a car!!!!

United KingdomI asked for a quiet room with large double - I got a room with the boiler underneath the balcony going all day, the extractor from the kitchen belching out fried food smell which really ruled out using the balcony. We had a small lift beside our room and every time someone used it there was loud grating noise as it rose and fell - lovely when you are trying to sleep. Air con in the room - well my hand fan could put out more cooling air. We also got 2 single beds pushed together - one of which broke. The sofa that they quote is in the room wasnt and there would never be room for one. The bath you climb up 2 steps into it as it is between 2 walls - very tricky, there is a grab rail on the wall but I was very frightened of slipping. Terrible drain smell. Couldnt use shower properly in first 24 hrs as attachment missing so you had to hold shower head - now the cleaner must have known that. All of this was within the first 24 hrs - so although its not something I normally do but I had to complain - to her credit the manageress said she would move us but as we were only there for 3 nights I declined as really couldnt be bothered to move all the clothes after I had just unpacked them. The second day no hot water for shower in morning or evening. No internet for most of the day. Food - well mediocre is perhaps bumping it up. Plates cold so food cold. No water at the table - water is so cheap on Crete so not need for there not to be a complimentary small bottle - but no. Each of the 3 nights we had 1 small water and 1 glass red wine - you dont see a bill as its was booked to the room. On checkout those 2 were 8 euros a night. My husband said the red wine on the last night was just like grape juice. We have lived on Crete ourselves for 8 years so we know what to expect and this wasnt it. We had previously spent 4 nights in a hotel near Chanis - poles apart - I would never return to this hotel. I have given 2 stars for the Staff
Very tricky - the gardens are immaculate and so is pool area. reception inviting. Reception staff accommodating
