Breakfast : according to various guides this was supposed to be top in terme of quality and quantity. Quantity yes too much even but quality NO mostly cheap stuff («orange juice» sliced bread and «edam»cheese and as for the typical local food : overbaked cakes, unpleasant greasy doghnuts

Don't forget to bring cash to pay the hotel.

The breakfast ( see pictures via Booking) is very original: 6 or more different freshly home baked pastries. Very good yoghurt with local honey. A day out at the farm ( farm at 2-3 km from the hotel) was very nice and interesting and I would certainly recommend it for families with children but also adults enjoy it very much.

    Top Keramos !

The breakfast is absolutely fantastically overwhelming ....and we just couldn't cope (Thank you Katerina). Don't be scared though ....get a bag and pack some delights for lunch up the gorge.

We selected Keramos on the basis of reviews submitted by other guests, all of which seemed most fair. Loved it all. Location, friendliness .........smashing! Vegera, the restaurant recommended by the hotel ....is an absolute must. A walk up the hill to the Rouvas Gorge is recommended (if you like a relatively challenging walk) The coast is surprisingly close and just a few k's down the road. A visit to the family run farm was also great fun and is recommended. Fresh goat miks is scrumptious ! Good luck with the new house ......and thank you all for a wonderful stay.

The property states it is possible to pay by card but as far as we have noticed there is very often a problem with internet connection and not many are willing for you to pay by card. Got offered to withdraw money from the cash machine, but that was not the point. I would say better do not state that people can pay by card otherwise it is misleading info. Breakfast is nice and all home made, but not nutritious at all! White bread delicacies, which we did not want as we were on let’s call it a diet, was all home made by Katerina the senior. But you get them anyway. Like at grandmas place you have to finish everything unless you want to be asked why did not you eat them, didn’t you like them? There was simply too much. Air conditioning costs extra 5€ per day!!! Shower head was nowhere to be hanged and water temperature was changing every few moments from boiling hot to ice cold. I burnt my hand. Be careful. Overpriced for the village.

The view from the balcony is the best, overlooking mountains! Also very spacious. Katerina (the young generation) was very kind and welcoming, who has given us free coffee when she greeted us the day we have arrived. Owners were very generous. You get a possibility to participate (for extra fee of 25€) in the village show: milking sheeps, making cheese etc., however we had plans already to visit Skinakas observatory in the area instead that day.

The pillows were a little hard for our liking, but saying this feels like nitpicking...

The breakfast was lavish, the people (owner Katarina and family) were so, sooo kind and the village was cute. If you like hiking, walking the Rouvas Gorge is a delight and please please please have diner at Vegera. It's 100 metres from the hotel, and owned by a niece of Katarina, Vivi. She is a most amazing host and guide to the area and her food is heavenly, so pure with local ingredients. A tip, jusk ask her to surprise you with what she feels like cooking that evening. But if she has it, ask for the grilled trout. We had the most amazing start of our stay in Crete here, it will be difficult to top! We fell in love with the place, it feels like you are truly guests that have been invited into their home.

The smell of the kitchen in your room every morning (we stayed on the first floor). The breakfast was based for sweettooth persons. My husband is not allowed to have sugar. Juice was not fresh, poor alternative. After booking it is mentioned you have to pay for the airconditioning. Toiletseat was loose. One little soap as toiletries. -Privacy on balcony: could be better for neighbouring room - Chairs on balcony: easier chairs would be welcome....

Good mattress. Perfect cleaning and very welcoming owners and we were asked for our plans the first time during breakfast and got useful wander hints. Also the caring breakfast (far more than you can eat, but they give you a paper bag to take away whatever you like) and the happy old lady who offered us several times a complimentary drink. All the young and old very hard working beautiful Catherina's : thank you ! We found the mountain-village of Zaros itself not really very exciting or special, but there are enough small markets and a few restaurants - including the family restaurant belonging to the family who also runs the hotel where you can get good food at a very reasonable price and where the ladies from the family really try to spoil you and have a good laugh with them if you feel like ! We made a walking trip to the 'lake of Zaros' ( about 2 Km) and on the way we passed an old water-mill ( photo 1) and fish breeding farm (photo2) annex a big restaurant where a goat/lamb slaughtering was taking place for the evening dinner ….( photo3) . Zaros Lake is actually a kind of park with a big fenced pond ( with fish and a some small turtles) and some catering - nice on a hot day we suppose although you cannot swim or even get to the water due to the fence. Nicer was the climb from the park ( left along the pond) into a mountain path direction Rouvas Gorge , which we took partially. When you go down left first chance, you reach a rather posh hotel/restaurant/ mountain apartments called Eleonas where you can pick up some free A-4 copies with wander descriptions , but they also sell ( € 5,--) a wonderfully detailed map of the surroundings with simple signposted wandering routes. (You have to ask very explicit for this map, because they don't offer it voluntarily) From Eleonas you can easy walk back to Zaros ( 3 Km).

We were made very welcome by the family, and it was ideal for us - friendly not pretentious, but the family were willing to help us in any way; breakfasts were great. We very much liked the village and the surroundings - not over touristy, but all we needed.

Loved the people. So nice and accommodating. Answered all my questions about where to go and how to get there. Also the breakfast was amazing. The table gets loaded with freshly baked goods!! And of course feta and tomatoes and olives and cucumbers and fresh goat milk and fresh squeezed orange juice all from their own farm!!

We loved the hospitality, the breakfasts in the attractive breakfast room and having a balcony with views to the mountains. The location was good for gorge walks, for visiting archaeological sites and mountain villages. I loved seeing trees laden with lemons and oranges all around the village and the wild flowers in the mountains

Limited English spoken but that wasn't much of a problem for us.

Coffee and tea upon arrival. Fresh baked Cretan pastries with breakfast which was served at the table next to the fireplace with its warming fire. WIFI worked well. Like going back to the Crete of 40 years ago. (I visited the island in 1978.)

Wonderful people, great location. I was treated like a valuable guest, I was even given a large bedroom because of the view and the sun. In the morning the host mum would spoil me with freshly made delicious sweets. I will certainly be back!
