How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewMaria is an exceptional host. The house is very bright, clean and welcoming, the furniture is new and the house is well equipped with EVERYTHING you might need. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Even if the house is located on a main street, you never hear noise coming from outside. As I’ve said in the beginning, Maria is a great host, very kind and welcoming, she really made us feel at home. If you visit Heraklion, booking here is a must! If we come back, we’ll definitely book again :)
Everything was perfect

Verified reviewGreat location and spacious room. But the best part is the warm welcome by the owner - she took time to greet us and show us the room so immediately we knew we had all we needed for our stay. We enjoyed chatting with her about some local news too. You can buy food from newby shops and easily cook in the well equipped kitchen. We only stayed there for 2 nights, we wish we could stay longer and the place is totally equipped for a long stay!

Verified reviewIt was a little bit of heaven for travelers. The owner had anticipated everything we would need, and everything worked. There was a bench for a suitcase, a makeup mirror, and fresh banana bread for when we arrived.
Nothing

Verified reviewThe location is perfect, right in the center of town, close to all the pedestrian streets. The appartment had fresh water, cookies, crakers when we arrived very late at night. It was very clean. I forgot some clothes in the closet and the landlady met me three days later to give them back to me. THANK YOU!!!!

Verified reviewThe location is superb. A very easy reach to the center, the port, museums. Lots of restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors, stores of different kinds. Then use it as a starting point to explore more of Cretes beaches and sights. The host is easy to contact and very communicable. The apartment is spacious, light and beautiful.

Verified reviewSpacious, clean and comfortable apartment. Everything you may need was provided, just like home. There were a variety of products to use in bathroom and kitchen, as well as beverages and snacks. Also washing machine and dryer for longer stays. Location was excellent in the heart of Heraklion surrounded by shops and restaurants, etc within minutes walking distance. Taxi and bus stops few minutes walk. Very convenient. Building was quiet and paved street below the apartment was also clean and quiet, no cars or people hanging around this area. Only communicated with the host through messages but she was a lovely lady, very helpful and informative. She responded to all our queries quickly. Very hospitable. Huge thank you to her.
Everything was perfect. No problems or issues.

Verified reviewMaria was a wonderful host. She really gave our family (and especially our kids) a warm welcome. Really appreciated the spotless clean apartment and the water, juices, and breakfast stuff for the next morning. The supermarket was 15 sec walk, museum super close, bazaar just around the corner...it was just fabulous! Also, washing machine + air conditioner was super for a summer stay. Wish we had stayed longer♡
Maybe better pillows? ^^

Verified reviewNeatly nestled on the third floor of a narrow building of Heraklion's best neighborhood, where literally everything is only a couple of minute walk, including restaurants, taverns, bar,s, confectionaries, supermarkets, convenience stores, and an always bustling market of fresh produces. It's also important that the apartment is surroubded by all the must-see sights in town. On top of it all, there is a barrage of rasonably priced restaurants (Greek and international in the vicinity). Even though it's not on ths waterfront, it is only a 10-minute leisurely walk. It's hard to find free parking by the house, but two car parks are open 24/7 (at the rate of 10 euros by the day and weekends are free). The apartment is simply a wonderland. It has the feel of your new home. My family and I spent there a week and consider ourselvea lucky to have been in the hands of Maria, the owner, who was always reachable and, most importantly, awaited us with an immaculately clean and fully-equipped home. Even though the apartment is in a busy area, it is on the third floor, which eventually makes is quiet. One large bedroom with a comfy bed and nice linens allowed us to sleep like log. It has a spacious living with a big dinner table and a kitchen with all mod cons (all new kitchen accessories are there). Having come with our 15-month-old boy, we especially appreciated the nicely arranged crib and the kids' corner full of toys (board games, cards, dominoes, cognitive games, and a lot more for older kids). The apartment is very brigh. Herakliom is super child-friendly with families being around with their stroller all day long (the terrain is not too even due to the hilly nature of the town, but curbs are always lowered to help children in strollers and the disabled).
That we had to leave :)
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. It was a pleasure to host and mainly to meet you. 💕
