Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalySimply gorgeous! The place is very nice and quiet. The position is perfect for visiting the island, you can reach every location in few time by car. The most valuable thing is the owner: he's very kind and helped us a lot with his suggestions about places to visit. A really good experience!

Our stay was fantastic! Marcos and his family are wonderful people – always smiling, helpful, and speaking several languages including English and French. The breakfast with local specialties was delicious. The hotel has a perfect location to explore central Crete, with amazing views of the sea and olive groves – especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Very peaceful, ideal for total relaxation. Nearby there is a great taverna with breathtaking views, and also an olive oil factory with a museum where you can learn about the production process. Highly recommended!

SpainFrom the moment we arrived at Mourtzanakis Eco-Residence, we felt we had found a truly special place. The location is magical: surrounded by mountains, with breathtaking sea views and sunsets that leave you speechless. The peace and quiet of the area make it perfect to disconnect and enjoy every single moment. The accommodation is a beautiful mix of tradition and comfort. The villas and cottages are spotless, cozy, and equipped with everything you need to feel at home. The pools and common areas are a wonderful bonus for relaxing after a day at the beach or exploring the island. What makes this place unique, though, is the hospitality. Marcos and his family welcomed us with such warmth and genuine kindness. They were always available with great recommendations, stories, and a sincere smile. You can truly feel the love and care they put into this place. It’s the ideal spot both for exploring Crete (close to beaches and Heraklion) and for recharging in the middle of nature.

NetherlandsMarcos is a great host, with amazing tips on things to explore (such as quiet beautiful beaches), and taverns with the best fish, sunsets or traditional Cretan food. It’s a good place to rest and disconnect with probably the best sunsets in Crete.

PolandAll great!
If I could give this place a 100 - I definitely would. It’s a true resort property located just 10min drive from the coastal line. It’s spacious and at the same time designed in a way that offers privacy to all guests. If you are looking for a quiet place with unique vibe, away from touristic crowds, where you can truly rest and recharge - look no further! Mourtzanakis Residence is a true retreat for tired souls. I know it may sound poetic but this how I felt. It’s a home away from home. I felt very well taken care of! Marcos, the owner of the place, is an amazing host, helpful, tactful and very cordial. Thank you, Marcos! Now, a little bit of practical impressions: * very clean, spacious apartments, well equipped for a longer stay * a generous breakfast with a selection of local food (feta, Greek yoghurt, jam and bread, orange juice etc.) * beautiful garden; the apartments are naturally infused in the landscape. I guess this creates this relaxing vibe: you’re always surrounded by nature. It was a pleasure waking up each morning hearing cicadas, birds chirping, or sheep bells or watching sunsets from the swing or just sitting outside with a book :) * local taverna is just 10min away on foot (located in Achlada village) - really good food! Important: * there’s no grocery shop in the village. So if you come for a longer period of time, and would like to cook for yourself, or simply to explore other places around and the seaside - having a car is a must. Overall, it’s a delightful stay! I’ll be back for sure.

EgyptI spoke with Marcos before arriving and instantly was excited for our trip, as he not only spoke perfect English, he also spoke fluent Arabic! He gave us tips like getting our international license before traveling so we could move around the island and when he arrived he even helped us contact people to rent a car from. When we arrived the place was more beautiful than the pictures, truly magnificent! The room was clean and very pretty, with an amazing view! Every morning he'd make us breakfast (very delicious breakfast) and he'd suggest places for us to visit, and every evening, we'd come back freshen up and go spend time with him just talking all night until we all got too sleepy. Marcos truly made our trip a thousand times better and we still can't believe how blessed we were to meet him and to spend our honeymoon in such an amazing place. Thank you Marcos for everything you taught us and for a honeymoon we will never forget. And we hope we've made a life long friend.

Czech RepublicOur stay at Marcos’ place was simply magical! The peaceful, quiet location made it the perfect spot for a truly relaxing vacation. Watching the stars from the terrace each night was unforgettable, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by Marcos himself made us feel completely at home. His hospitality is unmatched! Marcos truly knows the island and gave us fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, breathtaking beaches, viewpoints, and hidden gems all around Crete. The breakfasts were fantastic, and we especially loved the traditional Greek coffee and the freshly made orange juice he served every morning. We are already counting the days until we can return to this little slice of paradise. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an authentic, serene experience in Crete!

PolandEverything was perfect. Nothing to complain about :-)
We spent an amazing week at Mourtzanakis Residence! The place is very calm and peaceful so if you're looking to stay away from the city noise, this is the place to be. The view of the Sea is amazing! As an host, Marco goes out of his way to make you feel at home. During our stay, he treated us like family, taking care of every detail while at the same time being always available to provide us with any information we requested. Don't forget to have a car, it is absolutely needed. Nevertheless, it has a great connection to the main road to Heraklion and Retimno. We highly recommend staying at Marcos' place! Ευχαριστώ :-)

RomaniaFor us it was not a problem as we had a car, but it is worth noting for other travellers that the location is in a secluded area (thus peaceful) area.
My wife and I had a great time in this lovely accommodation. Marcos is a great host and an amazing person. He made us feel at home and offered us some nice recommendations, which made our trip better. The room, the bathroom, and the kitchen were all spacious and well equipped. The establishment also has a nice swimming pool and some amazing views at sunset. It is worth noting that due to the positioning of the hotel the air in the evening is a bit cooler, so even in the middle of summer we could sleep perfectly without turning on the air conditioning, which was a big plus.

NetherlandsWould recommend to have a car when you visit because it is definitely needed.
We would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful place. It is an oasis of nature in an very small town with the most amazing view of the sunset and mountains. We had some great days staying at one of the apartments. The pool gives you a nice refreshment during the hot summer days and the appartment was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The residence is run by Marcos and Valerianos, father and son, who are amazing people with very kind hearts. They made our stay on Crete so special and Valerianos makes great freddo cappuccino and Greek coffees!😉 We hope to come back some day😊

The property is located in the mountain with a beautiful view of the sea. There are olive groves all around and there’s an olive mill and museum nearby that offers free tours and sampling of olive oils. The sunrise from this location is absolutely spectacular. With a vehicle, you can easily access the beach, shopping area etc. within fifteen minutes. The hosts, Marcos and his son, are a phenomenal duo who are particularly attentive to your needs and a pleasure being in their company.
