How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Mind the stairs going to the hotel, and in the hotel. It is not a negative, on the contrary it give the building and the town its architectural beauty, but it may be a bit challenging for families with small children.

Verified reviewThe staff were wonderful - genuinely friendly, accommodating and helpful and made us feel at home. The building itself is historic and interesting, which made for a lovely stay. Location is great. Breakfast was very good, with coffee made to order.
The hotel has steep stairs so likely wouldn’t be suitable for someone with mobility issues. Doorframe to bathroom is low for tall people.

Verified reviewCentrally located. Right in the old port. Close to the water.
We arrived at 8 pm. By car. I tried getting close to drop off luggage. It was impossible. I left my wife in the car while I ventured on foot to see where the hotel was situated. The distance and the flood of tourists on the streets was astonishing. I couldn’t see how I would drag my luggage through the cobblestone streets through the crowds to the hotel. In the end we left our car and luggage in the car over night and walked on foot to the hotel. Once we found the hotel it was past 11 pm. Hotel staff had left. The key was left in a lock bock. This was seamless. We learned that being on the top floor ment climbing four flights , up and down every time you needed something. In the morning with the crowds gone we slowly brought our luggage back to the hotel and up the flights of stairs. The last mention is that the room was too small with very please to put toiletry and bags.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect to be in the old town port area. The staff was very accommodating. I had two early morning tours and they packed a breakfast for me to take along on the tour. All of the staff was terrific from directions and restaurant recommendations to arrange for a taxi for to and from the hotel. I definitely recommend and if I return to Chania this is where I would stay. As an FYI no elevator but I believe that is the norm for this area of town. 10 +++ rating. Charming and authentic. Superb Greek hospitality.

Verified reviewWonderful people working at the hotel. Very beautiful, very authentic and yet comfortable environment. Soft beds, cold AC, nice liquor in the room. Antique, well-crafted furniture throughout the room and in the lobby. Books left by visitors on a bookcase one floor above the reception. Breakfast was hearty with strong espresso and unique jams and pastries and fresh bread and meats and salads and fruit and fresh juice. The location also is quite magical. Cobbled walkways wind around, you might find fig trees growing among ruins. Pick them! You can walk to beaches or right into the bustle of the old city.
No issues. All positives.

Verified reviewLocation right down in the city center and nicely decorated hotel. The room was stunning and decorated in colonial style. The breakfast room is similarly nicely furnished. The breakfast buffet is adequate and the staff was very friendly.

Verified reviewProperty was centrally located in the harbour side and the staff was amazing. One of the best hospitality! All the staff at the breakfast reception team made the stay comfortable and welcoming!
It was a heritage property but the amenities like the blankets pillows etc could be upgraded . There is no duvet or a fluffed blanket - there are clean sheets one thick one thin that’s it There is a peculiar smell of the old carpets and no elevators. The room furniture made no sense - less room for luggage even after the room was large.
