Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very good selection of food. Waiting staff efficient and friendly. Beautiful location with exceptional views. We loved the Villa with a private pool - the living kitchen dining area was exceptional and the bedroom upstairs gave a level of privacy. Complimentary fruit basket and water was a nice touch. The food and drink prices were good too.

Palestinian TerritoryThis is not something against the hotel but rather an advise to anyone who is going to Crete in general: Rent a car. It is very difficult to move around without any means of transportation. Family actvities are scattered around with a 30 minutes driving minimum so was quite convenient for us to have a car. The resort was in the middle of all those activities, so the location was great.
We rented a villa with a private pool and loved the stay there. The villa is much larger than the rooms in Crete and has its own parking spot, so was extremely easy to move with a child. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, especially Athina who was our main contact person and facilitated everything. The food is also delicious.

IsraelVery medium breakfast. No heated pools. The curtains let the sun in, so you wake up with the sun. The interior design of the villa is very 2007, so not a very pleasant view. The faucet in the kitchen needs to be fixed. When we arrived there were dead beatles in the kitchen cupboards. The curtains had holes in them. There are no enough cooking utensils for an easy meal prep. The kettle had a problem too, it opened the moment the water started boiling and didn't close to pour the water safely. The garden nest to the outdooe pool in the villa is not looked after enough, it had dead roses in it. To get to the city you need to call a cab for 10 euros, or go by foot for about 20 min. To go downhill is ok, but to go uphill you will need some strength.
We lived in a dream villa no.3. It has a big but not heated pool. The view is very nice. The personnel was very polite and friendly, especially Athena. Very good gym. We were given a fruit basket and a bottle of vine fo free.

Switzerlandwhen we arrived we were not told that there is going to be a very loud party in the main pool area (we were told there will be a Christianing but we had no idea it was going to be that loud!). it was very loud the whole night. there was also no information what kind of resort it is. furthermore, we felt very uncomfortable in our villa. the two floors and the giant garden in our villa were not cozy. also the view from our villa was horrible - we looked down at something like a dumping ground with scrap and metal. the interior as well as the breakfast are definitely no 5* standard
we had a really big and warm pool in our pool villa! we booked 2 nights. since we didn’t feel comfortable in this hotel we were allowed to leave after the first night and we got a refund for the 2. night

United KingdomThe beds were EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. I had a bruise on my side. Woke up in pain every night. Never happened to me ever before in a bed. It was like sleeping on rocks. The breakfast was terrible and extremely basic and cheap. I didn't even bother eating it. This is certainly not a 5 star hotel. It may have been when first opened, but everything is falling apart. My shower didn't work which I didn't realize until 2 days in as I had been having baths before then. The general finish of my private villa was that of a basic hotel room spilt over 2 floors. Horrible furnishings and fittings. Cracked tiles, just horrible setting like a basic 2/3 star accommodation. I'm nearly 40 and my days of cheap holidaying are over. however, on this occasion I wish I had gone for a cheaper hotel as this was a complete ripoff. The grass needed cutting around our private pool. It was filled with weeds and flies everywhere. A scrapyard or junk area was directly behind our villa. Made it unbearable sitting outside and got attacked by flies. We paid an extra 800euro to get a private pool only to wish we hadn't bothered. The staff simply didn't seem to be caring. Despite the hotel being empty (like 20 people staying there) they refused to let us keep our room on for the day of departure despite 5 of them being empty and available on booking.com - They offered us a basic room for 70EURO for 8 hours, Disgrace! We was allowed to use the showers in their private gym. Like in our room, the shower heads are basically hanging from the tap. There is nowhere to put them above your head and stand under it. Its a very basic thing they dont have, made getting clean very annoying. I basically had to sit in my bath to get a shower every day. Again, I thought my days of doing that kind of thing were over. Just a complete joke and I paid a lot of money for this hotel. I feel so ripped off.
The views of malia bay from atop of the hill was great. The main pool area was nice and clean and looked good. Malia in itself is a great place to visit.
