Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaI think the pillow cases should be washed. I could smell the previous guests hair. Sorry.
Comfortable bed. Staff were accommodating and patient. Clean bathroom. The breakfast was delicious. The location was close to the vibrant areas.

United KingdomLeaving was the only part we didn’t like.
Twice we stayed at Casa Carmel, at the start and end of our travels in Guatemala. Honestly, it felt like returning home when we arrived the second time, knowing clean comfortable beds, good showers and reliable WIFI, friendly staff and a great breakfast awaited us. It's a charming colonial house, central location, impecably clean room - but it's the wonderful staff who make this place exceptional. Not only doing their jobs very professionally, they helped and supported us with great kindness as we encountered some difficulties on our trip.

AustraliaSophie (owner) picked me up from the airport and gave me a lovely mini tour on our way to the hotel. The staff was incredibly helpful too and really nice. The whole space was lovely. The hotel is in great hands and definitely recommend as a place to stay in Guatemala City. Lovely little resting sanctuary in the middle of the city's buzz. Lovely local style breakfast. Will definitely start adding some beans to my regular brekkie.

We had the place to ourselves and it was really beautiful house to wander around. The beds were comfortable and the room was large.

United States of AmericaSpotty wifi in the room; however, they inform you upfront unlike other accommodations, and there's intermittent hot water in the shower.
Great service, tranquil, immaculately clean. Management responds, unlike other Booking.com accomodations and in a fast manner. It's a very charming establishment, and you'll feel right at home.

AustraliaBeautiful old colonial house with big rooms just outside the historic centre. There is a seperate sitting area and lovely garden. The area around felt a bit sketchy but easy to walk to the historic centre but the house felt really secure. Nice breakfast.

South AfricaEverything was fantastic! Only the WiFi signal in our room was a bit weak (it still worked though).
I can highly recommend this B&B if you are in Guatemala City! It all started with the excellent communication on Booking.com from Sophie, the owner. She is an absolutely wonderful host. Secondly, she even arranged FREE airport pick up which was totally unexpected. The house is a stunning 1930s building with beautiful art close to the pedestrian shopping street and the main square in the old city. The room was huge with very comfortable beds, a walk-in wardrobe and modern bathroom with shower . A delicious breakfast is included as well. I'll definitely go back there on my next trip.

CanadaLocation, cleanliness, secure. Sophie and staff did the extra to ensure a memorable stay. I had a tour cancelled by provider and Sophie stepped up and found a replacement. I’m sure it was no small feat since a long weekend with added demand.

United States of AmericaThe only negative I have to stay is the street noise outside can be loud at night. I don't feel like I stayed long enough to see other possible negatives.
This is a beautiful historical house with very spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. The staff and owner are very kind and accommodating. The breakfast each morning is great. It's a very secure building. The garden is a very peaceful place to relax. I only had about 24 hours to spend in the city and this was close to the historical center so I was able to do some rapid sight seeing.

Everything was perfect. Sophie was super friendly and helpful to take me from airport to hotel. She was one of the the best host I’ve ever met. This hotel was so traditional colonial style with elegant decorations and relax atmosphere. Breakfast was simple but good quality. Actually it’s better than photos on the website and I’m so glad I made a great decision. If I come to Quatemala city again, I will stay here again.

United KingdomA charming property in a wonderful location with fantastic staff! Sophie & Raul were utterly brilliant, from the complementary airport pick up to pointing out the different areas and history of the city. The recommendations provided exceeded expectations and the communication pre-arrival was the best I have ever received. I truly wish I could have stayed longer yet my itinerary did not allow it (on this occasion!) I hope to be back and highly recommend to all!!!

CanadaSmall issues but nothing major. Broken toilet roll holder. Perhaps an extension cord in room so could plug in electronics on both sides of the bed. Room water should be automatically topped up each day. Small things.
Great location. Very close to main pedestrian walking street. Only 15 minute walk to main square. (40 minute walk to Relief Map in Zona 2) Close to lots of dining and shopping options Beautiful heritage home which has been carefully restored with original tile floors and wood throughout. Lovely inside and out, with a small garden in back. Good water pressure for shower. Lovely touches to make your stay enjoyable such as water in room, daily fresh flowers in room and in main part of house. Very good breakfast of eggs, toast, refried beans, coffee and juice (also a fruit option but didn't try it). Would definitely stay here again.
