We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. United KingdomThe bathrooms were the main let down of this hostel with them being outdoors bathrooms with rarely any hot water. Because the outside looks so luxurious these bathrooms were definitely a let down. In addition many of the shower window curtains weren’t big enough to cover the whole window so it didn’t feel like you had privacy. This hostel didn’t allow any outside food which was disappointing as their menu has limited options and it feels like a way for them to squeeze money out of you. The beds didn’t have curtains! They should definitely add this as that makes a huge difference with privacy! Other than going to Semuc Champey, there wasn’t much else in the area to do so I would not recommend staying longer than 3 nights.
I loved how luxurious the outside of the hostel felt with a beautiful pool and jacuzzi and loads of hammocks and greenery everywhere. The staff were friendly and funny and helped when we needed it. It was so close to Semuc champey and they provided transport to and from Lanquin on arrive and exit. They had so many animals!

BelgiumThe locations is absolutely perfect, you can walk from the hostel directly to the entrance of Semuc Champey. However, it’s a party hostel (which is absolutely ok as long as you know this before coming), the rooms could use some refresh, and there are so many products used in the pool that our swimming suits got green stains all over. Beautiful place but could be even better with some extra work…

United StatesWhat they didn’t tell you is that you have to book a shuttle back to Lanquin the day before you leave before 4am or you won’t able to get on the shuttle. I didn’t do that because nobody told me and there’s the sign at the front desk says that which I didn’t see so be aware of that. There’s millions of signs postings there I didn’t really paying attention to those signs anyways so that was my fault obviously. So they let me pay Q35 to add an extra person in their shuttle which I understand.
The rooms are nice. Good food and bar drinks. Staff are helpful.

IsraelSadly there's no kitchen available and no outside food is permitted - the restaurant is a great solution with delicious food and big portions. No curtains on the bed, a small downside.
Location is great, under 10 min walk from Semuc Shampey, and the shuttles to Lanquin are very available. Amazing facilities - pool area, restaurant and bar along with the bathroom and showers with hot water, the staff are super friendly and helpful - helped me book my shuttle for the next destination at a fair price and the activities both in and out of the hostel are fun and social.

United KingdomVery expensive but was good quality. Would be good if shuttle was included from Lanquin both ways. They say no snacks to avoid bugs but it just seemed a money making thing (we had some and had no issues with bugs). Also they're keen to keep your passport as a deposit but we were able to put money down instead though they suggested it would be a 'headache'- it wasn't!
Great facilities- immaculate pool, big communal areas and food at the restaurant is good quality and lots of variety. Friendly staff. Short walk to Semuc. Private room was spacious and very clean.

CanadaThe lighting in the room could be better There’s no wifi in the room, but most other areas had it Some noise at night as it’s a social place As well as in the morning with early check outs and animals :) I saw cockroaches in the room and in my locker a couple of times (they have a good no food policy though, there’s a locker outside of the entrance to keep your food) A small kitchen place would have been nice, I would go and make food alone by my food locker haha
Amazing and friendly staff Great communication Good worry free system in place Good vibes Social atmosphere Location is good, just a short walk to the best spots Having the shuttle from your transport really helps The food and drinks are really good The decor, wood furniture, hammocks, pool and pool table Staff held activities for free Planning tours and shuttles was easy The laundry service was fantastic Big locker in the room to store your bag My bottom bed was comfortable The bathrooms and showers seemed good, no towel to dry your hands though

CanadaI was staying in one of the private cabanas (the triangle ones) but it needed a little renovation for sure. The sheets and masters could be more comfortable, there was no storage or decoration, the wood was old and humid and the windows dirty. There was no trash can.
I liked the size of the hotel and the proximity with the national parc. The pool was great and also the ambiance and the activities at night.

United KingdomAs a lot of the reviews say, it is quite loud. Music turns off around 10/11 but the sound of people talking definitely travels. We stayed in a private room and woke up every morning at 6am when people were checking out. But it was manageable and expected
Perfect location very close to Semuc Champey park, takes about 10 minutes to walk there. The restaurant on site was great and reasonably priced.

GermanyThe price value for a private room was not given, in my opinion. The mattress was quite worn out. You only get one towel included, however nothing dries in the humid air. The rooms are only separated by Moskito nets in the roof are, hence if another room switches on the light your room is light as well. Also you hear everything. The curtains did not fully cover the window even though from the other side workers are always facing the windows. I still enjoyed the stay, just wanted to point out that a private room did not have the quality I expected for the price! Shared bathrooms could need some love and renovation.
Great staff, good food and a nice atmosphere- you can chill but also have a great interaction with the other guests. Nice pool.

United StatesThe bed was rock hard! The walkway was pretty sketchy walking up to the hostel. It was raining and steep and slippery. The road to get here is pretty rough but its kind of part of the adventure. You are in the back of a truck offroading. They make you pay 35 q for a ride back to Lanquin to catch your next shuttle.
The pool area was really nice. We sat and read books after swimming at semuc all morning. The restaurant was amazing! I could eat the chicken shwarma everyday. The staff was super nice. The hangout area was cool, lots of comfy seats. They have a few dogs on site which I loved seeing them being cared for. This place is walking distance from Semuc Chempey which is amazing. We got the apartment and the hammock on the river was nice to use.

New ZealandGreat facilities- swimming pool, pool table, board games. Lots of chill spaces to relax. Food was reasonably priced considering its the only option- Between 30-80GQ. Great happy hour deals from 4-6pm. a large 1L beer for 25GQ. Semuc Champey pools only a 15 minute walk from the hostel. Recommend the cave and Tubing tour on offer- great value for money. Highly recommend for solo travellers or couples.

United KingdomNot much but if I had to mention anything it would be the fact the african lady at reception was a bit sketchy, also helpful to be fair but she took my card details and also flipped the card around for a split second, possibly taking my security number from the back, meaning she could easily use it. It may be nothing but as a receptionist she shouldn't be doing that at all. It just means I have to block the card when I get back, extra hassle! All the rest of the staff we're very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend this place.
Everything about it was great! Although at first I was a bit pessimistic as I'm a muslim and they're israeli owned, thought it could've been a bit awkward but nah all good and they've gone up in my estimation. Golans brother even offered us a free quad bike ride through the villages, which was a nice touch but we didn't have time! So thank you guys and keep up the good work!

AustraliaOtherwise, the food was okay but could be improved, the avocado toast was on a burger bun which was weird and didn’t taste like fresh avocado. The waffles tasted sugary like out of a pre bought package. The granola yogurt came with frozen fruit although they could use fresh papayas or bananas to make it ten times better. The fresh fruit shakes were icy instead of creamy when made with milk. Once they master the food I would highly recommend this place.
The facilities were great, lots of space for everyone to spread out. A pool table, lots of games on offer, a big pool downstairs. The Semuc champey pools are only a short walk away which was nice. The shashuka dish was amazing - probably the only dish I ordered several times because it was so delicious.
