No food is available after 8 pm. However,the bar is opened til 9:30 p.m., and no food is allowed from outside. Limited breakfast menu form 7-8am after no food for 12hrs.

Management of the hot tub. It shows a picture of it and when booking one thinks (great, a hot tub we get to be in) then when you get there you have to order and pay for its use and to find out it is already rented out and your dreams of using are over! 😠

Hard bed, flat/lumpy pillows, can't have windows open (swing inwards) with curtains drawn, so either your room is closed up, hot and private, or comfortable but exposed to anyone walking by. No toilet paper allowed in toilet, yet nobody collects trash daily and they want bathroom door kept open, so room smells like pee when warm. No fan in room, so windows must stay open (worrisome traveling solo) and very loud boats start around 5:30a.

Location, beauty/grandeur of property, spectacular views, good food. The gardens are well taken care of, in bloom, and create an amazing tropical feel. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Got stomach bacteria issue and they made me a pot of Mayan tea to help. Swimming around property is clean and a must!

We arrived at Panajanchel using A La Carta Tours transport service. We had a private car and the ride from Antigua took about 2.5 hours. Once at the dock, we wanted to get to the hotel as fast as possible so we hired one of the private boats which charged us 25 Q per person, and the ride took about 10 minutes. A public boat was cheaper (maybe 20 Q per person) but the ride would have been closer to 30 minutes. The boat ride is very choppy. Once we arrived we were greeted by staff who carried our luggage up the many stairs to the lobby. The hotel is beautiful beyond words, with exceedingly friendly staff. Our room was #11 (again up many stairs) but with beautiful views, very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed lunch, dinner and cocktails on the hotel patio and met other travelers who were all very friendly. There are many different spots to lounge, go into the lake or enjoy a hammock. One day we went hiking with Elena and her daughter Julie from Elena's Hiking (found her on Instagram) who took us on a great hike up the mountain then back to her house for a Tezmacal thermal bath and lunch. It was a special experience, one that I will never forget. For sunset we walked 3 minutes away from the hotel to El Indigo for cocktails on the beautiful deck and then returned to Casa del Mundo for dinner. The hotel guide shares that all of the water and food is filtered and sanitized so we had no issues eating fresh fruits, vegetables, etc. For our return trip to Panajanchel we again chose a private boat because we had a short time frame to meet our car service. However, the cost was significantly more expensive (150 Q for 2 people). We were told that the boats will give a cheaper price on slow days so that is probably the explanation for the price difference. Also, for me the less time on the boat the better :).

The location of Casa del Mundo is perfect. Every room has a view of the lake and the volcanoes and the whole hotel is full of plants and stairs that connect everything. Also there are spa treatments like sauna, massages, hot tubs and swimming stops. The breakfast and dinner is very delicious and the staff is super friendly.

The billing was an issue. I booked 3 rooms for 6 people on the booking site they were all listed the same price. When we arrived the rooms were different prices. And my room while it was beautiful was so small we couldn't even open our backpacks . Our room 18 should be for a single person. Just disappointed after arranging and finding a gem . My room was uncomfortable.

The landscape was outstanding . The food and drinks are excellent. The staff was so friendly.

We booked a bungalow and we paid a lot for it the one thing they don’t tell you is that the higher rooms don’t offer the best views! Also, you have walk a lot if you book high up which is understandable, it’s a mountain after all! But the walk is hectic and not recommended for older people or someone who can’t walk a lot! I would highly recommend to book a room in the Lowe section of the hotel, trust me you’ll get better views and you’ll pay a lot less. Also, it’s crazy they don’t offer free breakfast with the prices of the rooms! That’s another negative…but truly this is a beautiful hotel!

My neighbors were very noisy and rude, so maybe you can ask a more isolated room, but be careful: there are a lot of steps to get to the upper levels..

This place is unique in the world! Every corner is different from the others and absolutely beautiful. Rooms are typically decorated with Guatemalan style, amazing! The views, the hidden spots, both private and public areas! Everything is incredible. Food is good, staff is incredibly kind. I didn't want to leave!!

I would like to be able to request half portions of the meal. I was overly full after every meal (and I didn’t want to waste!). I also really miss the family style dinners.

This is our family’s 5th visit since 2005. La Casa del Mundo is my place of heaven on earth. I will always choose to come back every time I visit Lago de Atitlán!

Our room was very small and had a musty smell. It was very traditional, however we would have appreciated a cleaner feel for the amount of money we paid.

Amazing location and facilities, lots of places to chill and relax in private! The staff are unbelievably friendly and eager to help where possible, we loved it here.
