How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewThe location is very convenient, as the house is in the historic center. It's very difficult to find free parkings; paid parkings are very expensive. The house is very small but clean.
unfortunately there are some problems: some basic kitchen utensils are missing; On the second day, the shower water was completely cold; The shutters in the living room didn't close properly. Overall check in was easy and the host responded quickly to messages.
Dear Francesca, as much as we enjoy constructive criticism, we must react to your review, as we find it unfair. The parking prices are not in our hands. However, when you called and told us where you wanted to park, we advised you against it as the place you wanted was the most expensive one in the city and you were also advised on where to park - for free. We don't have a parking spot, and accordingly, don't publicise we have one. You were given several Google map links for a free parking space, and only one chargeable, which costs 1-1.2 € per hour, of which you were also told. When it comes to the water being cold on the second day, it's because this is an electric boiler; you need to turn it on before showering, and it is clearly written in the apartment for you to do so. Basically, you didn't turn it on after your last shower. You used up all the water. When it comes to the place being small - it has 35 m2 with a balcony just as it is advertised on the listing page. Regarding kitchen utensils, I really don't know which "basics" are missing, since the apartment is fully equipped for an entire family, but if you had told us you needed something, we would have found it to make your stay more enjoyable. Verified reviewFabulous location- popping out early in the morning to wander the streets of the palace before the tourists arrive was divine. Petar and his Mum were more than helpful. The standard check-in time of 1pm and check out at 11am also made it far easier than other places. We were there on a really hot weekend and it was lovely and cool. The unit and linen were also lovely and clean

Petar was very nice and helpful and responded to messages very quickly. He even let us store our luggage free of charge after our checkout time so we didn't have to worry about it. Cleanliness was not great. The bathroom had quite a lot of mould around the tiles. The cup in the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been washed for quite some time. The kitchen sink drain and plug needed a good scrub. Linen was pretty thin and aging - not fantastic quality compared to the four other apartments I’ve stayed in across Croatia. The street noise was very loud during the evening.

Verified reviewWe had a lovely stay and would definitely love to come back in the future. The apartment has great potential and with a few improvements it could be absolutely perfect. - Location: 10/10 – Everything was within walking distance, with all the main attractions of the city close by. It made exploring the city very easy and enjoyable. - Check-in process – Very smooth and hassle-free. - Communication with the host – Quick, clear, and helpful.
There are a few things that could be improved in terms of cleanliness: - The apartment was not thoroughly cleaned: we found crumbs under the table, greasy handprints on the kitchen cabinets, and a wet stain in the bedroom. - There was a long red hair on the bedsheet, which made us question if the linens had been changed. - The sponge in the kitchen was used and not fresh. - The mirror cabinet in the bathroom was dusty and hadn’t been properly wiped. - Additionally, the bedroom facing the street can get quite noisy, especially at night. Some soundproofing or a white noise machine could really help. With a bit more attention to cleaning, this place would be a real gem. Thank you again for the stay!
Dear Katarzyna, Thank you for your review, we greatly appreciate you've enjoyed your stay but we also appreciate the constructive criticism because that's how we continue to maintain a standard that will result in our guest's satisfaction. I would however, like to address a couple of things. Firstly, I can beyond a doubt assure you that the linens are changed after each guests departure - often times even before, if our guests ask for it. Our cleaning lady has red hair and the only possibility is that a hair fell of during the changing of the beds. Apologies for the inconvenience for this, I only regret you haven't made a point of it during your stay - the linens would have been changed within minutes, since both my sister and mother live on the same location and the cleaning lady is there daily. Secondly, we are aware of the problem with the kitchen cabinets, since they are made of a sleek matte material which is often times problematic to polish pristinely, but you are right of course - a greater effort will be put into cleaning the cabinets in the future. As for the remaining points, they are noted and we can only promise to raise our level of attention while cleaning. Hopefully you will return sometime in the future and see for yourself.
