How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at Marco Polo hotel. Firstly about the hotel: the rooms are very spacious and have loads of storage to put away your stuff. The bed is also spacious and very very comfortable, together with the pillows. I had a very good nights sleep. Breakfast is excellent, and the location is likewise amazing. Right on the beach. Easy to go for a quick swim or just enjoy the view while eating. The hotel has a certain atmosphere around it that makes it feel like home. Very cozy. What made our stay even more special were the staff. Specifically Sandra at the reception and Stipe as host. Rarely do you see such genuinly kind individuals. We had a personal situation which made our stay a bit more difficult due to a booking error from my side. The way the staff has helped us will not be forgotten. They even gave us a bottle of home made olive oil for any inconveniences. Overall we had a marvelous stay at a fabulous hotel with incredible staff.

Verified reviewThe village itself is quiet and relaxed. The hotel has good location at the beach, easy to access by car and a small grocery store nearby. It's a small boutique hotel with nice staff and many places to relax. We had a stunning view from our room. It was possible to enjoy sunset every night from our own balcony.
Breakfast was disappointing, unfortunately. Even though a milk allergy was mentioned in advance to the hotel, they only had cow's milk for coffee. We needed to buy our own coffee and had that at breakfast. I wouldn't expect that from a 4-star hotel. Also, the croissants ran out at 9 a.m. every morning.

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved everything about our stay here! The hotel helped arrange a transfer from the airport for a good price. We expected to be met by a taxi driver but instead the restaurant manager of the hotel restaurant (which is in the Michelin guide) picked us up. He was very friendly and gave us a bunch of great tips for our stay. Once at the hotel we booked a table for the ”gala night” at the hotel restaurant. It was a really good experience with a six course tasting menu and a wine package accompanied by live music whilst sitting a maximum of 5 feet from the sea. Perfect start to our vacation! We ate at the hotel restaurant most nights (we also tried some other good restaurants in the area but I would say that the best restaurant in Gradac is at the hotel). The restaurant has themed nights several times a week such as ”gala night”, lobster night etc, so the menu changes quite a bit which is refreshing and if you wanted to you could easily eat at the restaurant every night without getting tired of it. Then on our first full day we went for an amazing wine tour led by the restaurant manager (shoutout Nenad). Together with a small group from the hotel we road by minibus along the coast to several wineries and even got to try a proper ”Dalmatian breakfast” (which was quite strong in terms of alcohol). We also stopped at an oyster farm and ate fresh oysters by the water. Then we got picked up by Stipe (the hotel owner) in the hotel boat and went to a lovely bay for swimming, drinks, more wine etc before heading back to the hotel. We thought this excursion was so good that we also opted for the boat trip to Hvar which was also absolutely amazing. The hotel also has several other excursions which sounded really fun (and they are all very reasonable in terms of price/value). The rest of the time we spent relaxing at the amazing beach right by the hotel.

Verified reviewFabulous location. Staff were very helpful and very very friendly... always willing. The dinner menu, the quality of food at dinner was fantastic (let's try to keep it a secret - probably too late I fear!) - as were the wines.
the free coffee (sorry 🤷🏽♂️)... as served with breakfast... The coffee (purchased separately), however, was very good. 😊

Verified reviewWarm welcome. Lovely staff. We were upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise. Perfect situation on the sea front.
Food was cooked to order in the restaurant which made the service a little slow but the quality was excellent.

Verified reviewAbsolutely beautiful location straight on the beach. Gorgeous spot for breakfast and great service. Various places to sit, the reading area, the beach, the deck, the pool and the terrace and our own balcony. The lift was helpful for us with our heavy bags. We were given a lift to the bus stop. Such a pretty location for the lovely family run hotel.
Air conditioner was not working, it wasn’t too much of an issue as we were offered a different room and wanted to stay in the room as the fan was working wonderfully and the view was great.
Thank you for staying at our hotel Best regards

Verified reviewLoved everything! Beautiful room, comfortable and the staff was excellent. The made extra efforts like I have not seen in other hotels in Croatia. The grounds were beautiful and they really wanted to give their guests their all.
I just wished the pool was heated. I love pools by the ocean and this pool was beautiful. It was just too cold to use right now. But this is minor compared to everything else they have for the guests.

Verified reviewWe had a unique and very relaxing time in this hotel. The staff is very kind and helpful. I was very impressed by the hotel, its surroundings and the Gradac area as we visited here for the first time. This hotel is for adults, so it is quiet and comfortable. We booked for dinner in the hotel's Nicolo Polo restaurant (listed in 2023 MICHELIN Guide Croatia), which was terrific, with the sunset on the terrace. The sea view from the room was very romantic. We really hope to come back again. The beach and the jetty are just in front of the hotel; it is so comfortable. Parking is available just behind the hotel.
The food was delicious and looked impressive for meat and seafood lovers, but it lacked some vegan/vegetarian options for non-meat eaters (as the seafood does not count).

Verified reviewThe perfect spot on the Riviera! Fantastic view from the windows, own terrace on the first floor. There is also a restaurant serving a hearty breakfast. Clean rooms, super and personal service. The people that work here are really top class in their service. Special thanks go to Sandra and the reception staff. The owner Stipe is also very close to the guests. We strongly recommend!
