How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewLocation is great, the neighborhood is quiet and the guests were amazing. Main bus station is 20 to 30-minute walk but everything else you need is nearby, such as grocery stores etc., even the city center. It's comfy, cozy, and if you love cats, you'll love this place! 😁
The kitchen is tiny but it's still manageable to get around.

Noise. The door to our room (2) didn't close at all (broken). Despite the rules such as respecting silent hours after 11pm, it seems like nobody gives a s...t about it and people talk, laugh, cook past 11pm, and even after midnight. Poor quality of sleep as a result. Sound insulation is not great.
We are sorry you had a bad experience with the noise past quiet hours. We have live-in staff normally and most guests abide by the rules but during the time you stayed the staff were not sleeping on premises and we happened to have some unruly guests. We'll do our best to do better in this regard, thank you for your feedback!

No air conditioning or fans, doors barely worked, hard to find the building, shower is mouldy. Dormed with a man who was the loudest breather and snorer. Worst sleep of my life
All of our dorms have AC! All you had to do was ask reception for the remote if it wasn't in the room already. About the man in your dorm snoring, this is really not the hostel's fault, not sure why you would mention this in your review. Doors work, showers are not mouldy and all other guests seem to find the building ok. Honestly not sure what you expected for this price in June in Croatia (*eyeroll*).

Female bathrooms were very swampy, not helped by very slow drainage of water through the plug hole. The bunk beds rattled quite a bit when you turned over so you were constantly being woken up.

Beds were perfect and decent sized lockers to fit all our stuff. Everything was clean. Well equipped little kitchen and lidl nearby. Very central location, only a 10 min walk to main harbour area. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Not a save space! I felt uncomfortable with the stuff! - just one toilet for each gender - the stuff had a lot of conspiracy theories to tell and no sensibilities for crossing lines - one day I was accused of being trans ( I’m a cis woman but quite tall) in combination with using the wrong bathroom. Even if I was a transwoman the woman’s bathroom would be the right one for me. But that was a quit hurting question, that was also really anti trans. It’s not a save space for queer people I would say. When I tried to talk to the stuff to make the point that trans or not doesn’t matter and women are women, you could see they had no clue about identities and the topic.

The volunteer in question's behavior absolutely does not reflect the official policy of the hostel which is to create a safe space for everyone. I made sure to educate them on the topic to make sure an incident like this never happens again. We absolutely welcome people of all ages, gender identities and backgrounds and will do better to educate all of our staff and volunteers on topics of inclusivity. On conspiracy theories, everyone is welcome to express their opinion as long as it's not supporting racism, hate-speech, violence and oppressive ideologies but as a general rule I instruct staff to not bring up politics and conspiracy theories in conversation. Occasionally, a guest and staff member will find a topic in common and bond over it, however outlandish it may be, and as much as I and the core team stand for progressive values and rational conversation, it's not easy to control individual conversations in a hostel setting where people of different backgrounds and opinions meet.

Verified reviewI like that there were rules about respect and everyone seems following especially when sleeping time, the room is so quiet. Also I like how accommodating and friendly the receptionist is, she is exceptional among receptionist in other hostels that I stayed in. She has a lot of energy and shows interest about topics we were talking about and she's a great entertainer, approachable and lovely. That's all
It's not that spacious compare to other hostels I've stayed in, but its good for its price and overall I love it since the receptionist brings all the positivity.
