How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewthe spacious apartment, large patio, proximity to the sea, the view from the bedroom windows, the hosts, the wine we received as a welcome gift, the excellent summer kitchen and grill for preparing fish, the large patio for storing items and comfortable seating. The accommodation was really excellent, even better than we expected based on the pictures. We were two families with small children, and there was plenty of space for everyone. We also rented a boat from a nearby tavern for a few days, so we could dock it right in front of the apartment, which was a huge advantage. There's also a small beach very close by, which is mostly empty, at least in September, and it's clean and perfect for relaxing on some days. However, we mainly used the boat to visit hidden coves around Korčula, where the water is incredibly clear and beautiful. Brna is a small, non-touristy place, but it has a few taverns and a store, which is enough for a comfortable stay without needing to go elsewhere.
Everithing was OK

Verified review1. Lots of space and rooms 2. Patio was nice to eat meals when it wasn’t hot part of day (so mornings and late evenings) but absolutely no view 3. Functional kitchen 4. Provided most things we needed 5. Good communication with host
1. Only the living room had an air conditioner and it did not help any of the bedrooms which all remained hot. Couldn’t open the windows due to the bugs (no screens). 2. Large patio but behind unit so just view of walls and zero air circulation due to walls. No patio overlooking the water just small windows that can’t be opened if you don’t want bugs and need to keep covered as everyone can see in 3. Location was not convenient in any way if you want to be able to access stores/ bakeries/ beaches etc. kinda a deserted little fishing town. Had to drive 20-40 mins for bakeries and restaurants and scooter rentals etc (“beach” in front is concrete and full of boats and sea urchins) 4. Towels were very limited and old 5. Bugs in light fixtures 6. Hard to find which is the unit as it’s in what looks to be an abandoned building from the outside 7. We considered paying extra to stay somewhere else and thought at first we must have booked the wrong place. VERY sleepy town and out of the way for anything. You need to have a car for sure
Dear Toni, In our five years of tourism, we have experienced this kind of review for the first time. To put it mildly, we are surprised and a little offended because we try to provide our guests with maximum service as evidenced by previous reviews, so we are forced to respond and defend ourselves and our place Brna as well. Brna is, first of all, as you called it, a small fishing village, with a beautiful clear sea full of plant and animal life (urchins are proof of a clean sea). It is not a big and crowded city like Split, but you should inform yourself about the place before you take a reservation. Everything is thoroughly presented on our website so the guests know exactly where they are coming to and what kind of accommodation it is. Our house doesn't look abounded from outside at all, like you said. It is one of the oldest stone houses in the village. But we need to say that we are sorry for all of this: - that it was hot in the large patio, but in the photos, you could see that it doesn't have a view of the sea - that you chose the apartment next to the green surface so bugs bothered you - that you couldn't find a store 30m away so you could buy bakery products in it - that you couldn't find a restaurant 50 m away from the apartment, and 3 restaurants more in the village - that the sea is so clean, so the sea urchins live in it - that in a fishing village, you saw so many boats on the beach - that the sun is yellow, and the sky is blue - That you didn't see in the photos and didnt read in a description of the apartment that there are no air conditioners but fans in all the rooms. And above all, we are sorry that when you opened the window, you had the opportunity to see the beautiful clear blue sea, hear the chirping of birds and the hum of insects, and at the same time you didn't feel anything. We are truly sorry that you didn't leave our place and went somewhere else, like you considered, so you and we both would be happy now. Best regards, Royal Fortune Apartment
