Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The room was amazing!. It was very clean and spacious. The kitchen we had access to was well equipped. The location could not have been better. It was close to airport transportation, supermarkets, public transportation, nice bars & restaurants plus city's attractions. Judit and Bendi are wonderful hosts. Very friendly and helpful at all times. I highly recommend this place for a nice stay in Budapest.

The dishwasher had some issues but it was not really a problem.
The artfully decorated apartment faces a quiet lane and has a full kitchen and two bedrooms, one with a separate bathroom and shower and one without. We stayed at the one without but we have access to the bath and toilet in the common area basically all to our own. The location is excellent, with many attractions in walking distance and many supermarkets and shops literally downstairs. The hosts were very helpful and friendly and provided excellent information on how to enjoy the city. Because of the insider knowledge, we got to follow the lead of the locals and hangout at the racetrack for the new year's eve. It was an amazing experience.

If you do self-check in, it feels a little like doing an escape room (but I had fun figuring it out). With fingernails, I had a hard time with the tub stopper (again, super minor thing).
There was a ton of room. It was so nice to stretch out after spending the week before in hostel dorms. Everything seemed clean and well-maintained in the room.

There is no washing machine for clothes but if you ask to owners they can do laundry if needed. There is sometimes a bad smell due to canalisations in the bathroom.
The location was great (10-15 minutes to the center of Pest and 30 minutes to cross Danube and go to Buda castle by walking, metro and buses right next to the building and Keleti station at 25 minutes). It is a flat with two big rooms, a shared living room and a shared kitchen (in which you can find almost everything you need). Owners are very accommodating.

Very cosy two-room flat run as a hostel by Judit, a really friendly and caring host, in the heart of Budapest (Astoria). The location is definitely AAA in a typical building of the early XXth century and offering a large choice of gastronomy, and good quality (try the pizzeria Mamma Donna or the hungarian specialty local Drum Café both within walking distance). No need to unroll any Plan when coming from the airport, the bus leaves you basically in front of the door!

Bed matelas is a bit hard, but it's a point of view question. No ventilation system so don't forget to open the window after a shower 😉

Such a perfect stay! From arriving to departure everything was so perfect! Very amazing place in a typical and charming Budapest building, very good located, 2 mn walking from Astoria métro station and 30 min from airport by direct 100 E bus Line!!!! Host, Judith IS such a sweet and lovely person!! She was here at the time we fixed to welcome us, spent Time to explain us about the place and also about the City,(what to see and how to get...) My wife, my daughter and myself came to Budapest first for hungarian GP and WE spent 5 wondreful nights, relaxing in gaia hostel! Everything you need ( kitchen, fridge, good wifi...) The place IS just perfect with a very good value, very clean and confortable! ( Very spacious Room for three of us, could fit for four?) Thanks so much, once again, Judith for your kindness, your help and hapiness, you made our stay in Budapest just unforgatable!! Of course, hardly recommand and Hope to Come and visite again!!

It was not exactly clear where the hostel is. The entrance is somewhere between a lady's clothing shop and Aldi. I had to call in to get entry. Even with google maps I was confused as to where the hostel was. After finding the location, everything else was just smooth sailing and wonderful.
The owners are so nice and friendly. Judit was really helpful with recommendations on what to see. The room, the bathroom are spacious and just great. There's a well-equipped kitchen if you wanna cook. Really enjoyed my stay. Highly recommend.
