Amazing food, views, staff, only have good words for the place and the people who run it

This place was amazing! It’s super chill, and Bob and his family were lovely. We got picked up from the port, and everything worked out perfectly. The food was incredible too. You can also hire scooters to explore other spots. Bob even took us to another surf break we probably wouldn’t have found without him. We’d highly recommend this place if you want the real Mentawai experience!!

The taxi costs around 1M IDR to go from the harbor to the homestay. I new it only once I arrived at the homestay...

I loved the position. Direct access to a gorgeous beach. I also liked that it was away from the ‘hoypalloy’ low key and humble, reflecting the ‘no shoes no worries ‘ ideal.

We loved everything . We had to leave earlier than we wanted because I had bruised ribs so couldn’t do much . They simply didn’t charge us for the drinks and food we had . All is good there .

This place is so beautiful and off the grid that you fully relax . Don’t expect. A lot of choice in food or drinks . All is basic but good and the staff is very friendly and also. All the guests seemed happy and relaxed

The beach right in front is beautiful and have fun and mellow waves. Rooms are comfy and have AC. The onsite restaurant is handy to have right there at the accommodation. Got a few surf spots within 5-15 minutes driving your scooter(that you can rent there, with surf rack). Staff in nice and place is surrounded by coconut palms. Beautiful garden also. The place is better than the photos online!

My partner and I had the best time staying at Lances Left surfcamp. Bob and everyone working there are such lovely and welcoming people! Right at the beach, awesome sunsets, and good food! Also the beach break and the reef in front are actually super fun surf. But we also had a scooter provided by Bob to get to all other surf spots. Highly recommend staying here, would always come back!!!

The only downside was that the electricity broke down a couple of times and that there we not a lot of other places to eat around the camp. But I think that’s what you got if you decide to stay at such a remote place.

The location is absolutely outstanding, like you’re in a movie. The bungalow where we slept was also super nice! Staff was very friendly as well.

The breakfast was delicous and very fresh. Bob the owner and his family are very friendly and helpful. They will pick you up when you arrive on the island. The view of the beach is one of the best I have seen. Highly recommend!

Lances left surfcamp is probably the best place you will find on the island. Bob and his team are super accommodating and help you with everything you need and want. They helped with pick-up and drop off in the harbour, got us scooters first thing in the morning, showed us the surf spots, took us fishing and made bbq on the beach for us. Just amazing. The bungalow is on the beach and you get served breakfast to it every morning. It can’t get better than that! The bungalow is simple, but it has everything you nee; AC, mosquito net, private bathroom and wifi. If you’re looking for a true Mentawai experience, this is it!

This is a great place to stay. Bobby is a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed and more. It was very close to a lot of great breaks and easy to get to HTs by scooter. Couldn’t have had a better time.

The kitchen could be better, more clean and organize. The bungalows are really cute and nice, to be perfect they would just need to have better doors, they stuck a little bit so you have to do some more force sometimes. Some little animals but the place is in the jungle, nothing bad ever happened or was close to happen.

Very nice and chill staff, ready to help all the time, with surfboards, motorcycle and even if don’t have enough cash allowing you to transfer to them. The location was right in front of the beach with a beautiful vibe and sunset right in front. Nice AC in the bungalow. Cannot express how nice the owner is. Always taking care of you with anything you ask. They even did a little gathering with a fire and cooked food for us in the last night, it was delicious and incredible to spend some time with the owner and is local friends, all very nice. We didn’t pay for the food, it was a present.

Our stay has been so magical at lances left surf camp! Bob has been such an amazing host. The bungalows are brand new and only a few steps away from the ocean. Everything we needed was provided; scooters, surfboards, towels, fresh drinks and coconuts and even a little tour through Katiet by Bob who showed us local restaurants and surf spots. You will wake up every morning to the sound of the waves and a home cooked breakfast by the hosts which alternated every day and was absolutely delicious. The vibe there is so lovely and authentic, we can truly recommend staying there! All the famous surf spots are easy accessible by scooter, the beach right in front of the surf camp is perfect for beginner surfers and lovely for a swim or big beach walk. We had the best time and would definitely come back!
