How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewVery friendly staff, nice big swimming pool, nice gardens. Close to beautiful temples (Pura Kehen) and many waterfalls. There was some activity going on, with some non staff and non guest people walking through the complex. From what we understood related to a ceremony related to the owner of the complex. We got a free room upgrade as a result, so no complaints and likely a one-off event.
A small fridge in the room would be a plus. Given our room upgrade we were a little underwhelmed with the bathroom (could be a bit greener as usually found in accomodations on Bali). Some more breakfast option would be welcome (just simple egg dishes for example). Food options are somewhat limited in the village itself but with motor no issue.

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful, calm, peaceful, quiet. The facilities are gorgeous as well. The pool is clean and a nice temperature (not too cold). I loved the option to rent a bike and explore the village by bike. I think this hotel was perfect for me and the service was excellent.
The breakfast was a simple breakfast menu (à la carte) because there weren’t any tour groups staying there at the time (they offer a full buffet for groups). We had the buffet with our tour group previously and it was very delicious (bacon, scrambled eggs, herbed potatoes, juice, coffee, etc.) so we were a bit disappointed we didn’t have the buffet menu during our stay this time.

Verified reviewRemote location, jungle vibe, facilities, comfy bed, cocktail options & tasty food
Be aware that the check-out from 8 am onwards (the receptionist is not at the property and we couldn't checked out). Staff was a bit confused most of the time. Upon check in no one told us where to go and that our room was located at the bottom of the village and it was quite a walk from the restaurant and main pool area. As the joglos' numbers are the same for the upper and lower locations, we were trying to get into a different joglo with the same room number.
Dear Weonika, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad you enjoyed the peaceful jungle setting, comfortable bed, and our food and cocktails. We truly apologize for the confusion during check-in and check-out. Your comments are very helpful, and we've shared them with our team to improve communication, signage, and guest guidance moving forward. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back for a smoother and even more enjoyable stay. Warm regards, De Umah Bali Team

Verified reviewBeautiful garden, rooms, decoration. All good! I really liked this hotel. Would recommend coming agains. Welcome fruit and drink, staff was exceptional. Breakfast was good. Notice is only local food. Pool was beautiful, but in that moment where I was it could improve on water cleaning. Beds are clean, smell good. Aircon is strong and fresh. Shower is okay and warm. No mosquitoes in the room. No roosters waking you up in the morning. Beautiful garden to walk and relax. Nice wooden rooms. Well decorated and with high roof. I loved the place.
Nothing in particular. Nearby Dogs barked at night for a while, just that.

Verified reviewThe staff were very attentive, welcomed us on arrival and took our bags to the room whilst we were shown the complex. The room was lovely, very clean and has WiFi and flip flops and dressing gowns, mosquito nets around the bed and plug ins. Bottled water provided daily. Food and drinks selection was good. We were close to lots of water falls which were great to explore.
Our room was slightly away from the main area and close to residents which meant dogs barking most of the day and night. We did have ear plugs which helped at night. Not much else to do in the evening once finished dinner.

Verified reviewThis place is magical. We stayed in three little cabans. Each caban has its own bathroom. The facilities are very clean and modern. The beds have a full mosquito net around. The Home has its own restaurant, with very tasty indonesian food, and a small bar, where you can have a little cocktail. The pool is amazing. And then a word about the wonderful staff. They were amazing with us. Very friendly and helpful. Gave us some really great tips on what to visit.
Everything was perfect! :)
Dear Maria, Thank you so much for your lovely words! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the cabanas, delicious food, and our warm, helpful team. It means a lot to know everything felt perfect during your stay. Hope to welcome you back to our place soon! Best regards, De Umah Bali Team

Verified reviewVery beautiful resort, peaceful- no construction around! You relax by the pool, great atmosphere, bar available all day, restaurant. Didn’t want to go anywhere as so peaceful and relaxing here! Staff are so amazing and helpful- big thanks to lady Tara at breakfast, and ladies at reception!! I stayed in small house next to restaurant- it was nice, cozy, very clean- newly built. Beautiful bathrobes, clean towels, hot shower! The problem is the sound proofing of this house- you can hear your neighbors breathing, like you are at one room. Some neighbors were loud until midnight, disturbing. Also restaurant starts at 7- so you will wake up because you can hear everything, if you like to sleep longer choose room away from pool There is nothing around so you need transport to go to places like waterfalls, Besakih temple, restaurant or supermarket
Dear Viktoriya, Thank you for your lovely review! We're glad you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, pool, and our friendly staff, the team will be delighted! We appreciate your feedback on the soundproofing and understand the need for a quieter space. In fact we already plan to execute the soundproof. Hope to welcome you back soon for another relaxing stay! Best regards, De Umah Bali Eco Tradi Home

Verified reviewBeautiful grounds, nice rooms, clean pool.
On the first day of our stay we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. A few hours later I realized that I had been poisoned. It was the worst poisoning in my life, because for three days I had a temperature of 39 with all the corresponding symptoms, and then for another week I had the same symptoms without a temperature. I even had to extend my stay at the hotel, because I physically could not go anywhere even by car. I thought that I had been poisoned somewhere else at lunchtime, because the food at the hotel was very tasty and my friend did not get poisoned. But the next day my friend ate only at the restaurant of this hotel and after dinner in the evening he also got very badly poisoned with the same symptoms. The dish had similar ingredients as the dish the day before (mashed potatoes, vegetables, pesto). So the poisoning was definitely from the food in the hotel restaurant. The owner of the hotel/manager needs to monitor the sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
Hi Olga, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are truly sorry to hear that you and your friend felt unwell during your stay. Guest well-being is our top priority, and we take food hygiene and safety very seriously. This is the first time we have received such a report at De Umah Bali, and we regret that we were not informed during your stay. Had we known, we would have done everything possible to assist you, including arranging medical support and investigating the issue immediately. Please be assured that we always maintain strict hygiene standards in our kitchen and ensure that all food is prepared safely. We have regular checks in place to uphold cleanliness and food safety, and we will take extra steps to review this matter thoroughly. We understand that your experience was unpleasant, but considering the overall quality of our facilities and service, we feel that a score of 1 may not fairly reflect your stay. If you believe any other aspects of your visit were positive, we would truly appreciate it if you could reconsider your rating. We sincerely hope you and your friend have fully recovered and wish you well on your future travels. Best regards, D'Umah Bali Management
