How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Breakfast was good but no variety from day to day. Don't allow people to smoke where others are eating. Since 2012 the law in Indonesia prohibits smoking in resturants so please enforce this. Also our TV's did not have youtube as advertised. Hot water didn't work after 6pm.

Verified reviewGood location, very close to the beach. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. On site restaurant and room service available. Staff were very helpful when checking in and out, we requested two rooms side by side and they were able to accommodate.
We stayed on level two and rooms were all accessed by stairs, which wasn’t too bad. There is also a busy street right outside, which was slightly noisy at night but okay.

Verified reviewthe only advantages of this hotel are: • location: there are many restaurants nearby, a convenience store, small shops, a big mall just in 3 minutes of walk, and the beach is just in 5 minutes of walk • the swimming pool was neat and clean • you can call a massage therapist to your room, and it's not overpriced • the linen and towels seemed clean
unfortunately, the hotel was presented better in the Booking.com than it is in reality. I'm not picky, that's why when I came to check in and got the room, I decided to stay. • the room: the facilities are very old, especially the bathroom which is dirty as well. the balcony door is quite old and doesn't lock properly, that's why you hear all the noises at any time of the day and night, and don't obviously feel safe. the door locker also absents. the price for the room is pretty high for what you got. • the swimming pool: even tho it's clean, the entrance isn't convenient. there's a gap between the ground and the pool ledge, that's why you can easily slip and get traumatized. it happened to me and I hit my toe. • cleaning: there are so many insects in the room, the floor isn't clean, the towels weren't change even tho I placed them on the place the hotel pointed to place if I want the towels to be changed. the bathroom cleanliness is very poor. • SAFETY: on the 3rd day of staying in Dekuta I came back to my room in the evening and found a waste plastic bag in the wardrobe. there was not only the waste from my room, but also the empty beer bottles which I didn't even use. why was it in my room? I have no idea honestly. when I complained in the reception, they just say "sorry miss", but didn't take the waste out. I heard the loud screams under my balcony and felt extremely unsafe. especially you can imagine the feeling with barely being able to lock main and balcony doors. I decided to change the hotel immediately. I paid for 4 nights, but stayed only for 2. wouldn't recommend this hotel tbh. maybe before it was better, but the rooms need to be renewed, and the safety and security, as well as training of the staff, to be improved.

The room we stayed in was dirty!! Lots of sticky finger prints on the windows. The bathroom was filthy with lots of black grout and hairs in the shower and bathroom floor. The air con was atrocious with black dust on all the vents. The sheets and pillows were clean thank goodness. Overall very disappointed with this hotel. The breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold food and the staff were fantastic. I would not recommend this hotel and was so glad I only booked 1 night. Phew!! I told the manager about our room being dirty and all he could say was I’ll let my manager know!! Not even a discount for a filthy stay. So scroll on and find another hotel as this one was given 4.7. I’d give it a 2.3.
