How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We had an issue with our power box running out of credits during the night at 2am, which meant the AC and fans turned off. This was resolved fairly quickly but disrupted our sleep a lot. We were given free transport to the airport as compensation, which we appreciated but didn’t really feel was adequate.

Verified reviewWelcoming and super helpful staff, always ready to assist and easily reachable via WhatsApp. Great location just outside the center (10 minutes by scooter), close to the excellent Granita restaurant and the XenoFit sports facility.
Minus point: the breakfast was quite light for the standard of this place—we were expecting a more generous offering. Fortunately, my partner has food allergies, which allowed us to combine all the available choices to make it work.

Verified reviewI had a really great stay at Marlaca Villas. The place is very peaceful and perfect for relaxing. There was some construction going on next door during the day, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my time there. I especially appreciated the breakfasts and the fully equipped kitchen — having all the utensils made it easy to feel at home. I was also pleasantly surprised by how spacious everything was. The rooms are large, and the bathroom has a hot shower that works really well — definitely a big plus. The staff is very discreet, which really makes a difference. You feel that they’re available if needed, but they always respect your privacy. If I had to suggest one area for improvement, it would be the garden, which could use a little refresh. But that doesn’t take away from the overall quality of the villa — it’s very functional and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for peace, space, and a sense of independence in Lombok.

Only one thing to mention, which I know will be fixed soon: the access road to the villa is currently under construction. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

The last bit of the road towards the villa is pretty bumpy.

Verified reviewThe villa was gorgeous! Loved the aesthetic, very spacious, nice hot shower with good water pressure, lovely pool, staff super nice and helpful and lent us 2 scooters for free.
Slightly out of the town if you wanted to walk in. We came for the moto GP and used scooters which was fine for us.

Verified reviewWe had such an amazing stay! It was so relaxed! Just outside the center you can really come to rest at this place. Everything was beautiful, very spacious and clean. The staff was incredible, super helpful and friendly. We loved the pool with the jungle plants and outside living room. Also breakfast every day and cleaning. The stay itself was really quiet. It’s a little walk to some restaurants but you have a good equipped kitchen so it’s easy to just stay and enjoy this place to the fullest. We extended with 3 nights because of the peaceful vibe. Thanks so much! Would recommend this little gem to anyone 🤍
