Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandJust a small thing — the shower didn’t have much water pressure, but I still managed to take a warm shower, so it was okay.
I really liked the place at Marselino’s! The hosts were super friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable, and overall the atmosphere was very welcoming.

GermanyWater pressure a bit low when hot water is on.
Nice , cozy room with good bright lightening (can read a book at night) and good wifi and own private bath, all that at a low price. Quiet place, had good sleep. Good warm blankets. All was clean. The bathroom was renovated and had a modern shower head, hot water was on demand. Don't be shy to ask owner to switch on the boiler. Very friendly owner couple, who were so nice and welcoming. They reserved bus to Ruteng for us, arranged motorbike for us. And they provided early breakfast at 06.30 am. Which hotel would do that for you ? The couple speaks some english. Some people said in reviews, the place is hard to find. Well, its now in Google Maps. If one comes from the small road with many other guesthouses, one must go down a small path and its not signed. The house itself is marked with Marselino name. We asked somebody on the street who showed us the small path down. The 2 dogs were quiet and seem well educated.

Amy, Marselions wife, was the best! She took care of everything, tried to fix the shower, cooled and served breakfast and was super friendly and helpful. She borrowed me her jacket for climbing mount inerie!

GermanyFinding the homestay is quite complicated. Sings would be helpful as you need to drive down a smaller street for some time before walking down a small path between houses which looks quite private. And matching name on booking.com and Google maps would be helpful. The restaurant which is mentioned on booking.com as the address has been closed for a very long time as it seems.
After we finally managed to find the homestay with the help of another guesthouse owner, as there are no signs and on Google maps the place is called Marcelino's Homestay we were greeted very nicely by the family. As it's a bit colder in Bajawa we were very happy to hear that they can turn on the warm water so that you can take a hot shower. In the morning we went on the trip to climb Mount Inerie and when we got back to the homestay around noon we were very surprised that we were still offered to eat the banana pancake breakfast which was very yummy.

SwitzerlandThe most negative point is finding the homestay. To help, we put a description here at the end. The shower in the room had low pressure and there were a lot of bugs around (mostly outside though). One of the dogs is not friendly to outsider and must be avoided. Definitly not recommended if you fear dogs in general. The location of the homestay on booking is (as of writing) wrong. The one on google maps is more accurate but still not helpful in finding the homestay. Also, the only sign is in the yard which is not visible from either street. To go there you have to options. From thr top street. If you followed the location on booking, this is most likely where you ended up. To reach the home stay go to this location: (-8,7930984, 120,9750368) and then walk through the yard (see 1st picture) until you reach stone stairs. Go down and you are there. From the lower street. If you followed the google maps location you will most likely end up here. Go to (-8,7936411, 120,9747783) and then head up the small stone stair and around the building (see 2nd picture).
Nice homestay at a good location with clean rooms. The breakfast was good and diverse with fruits and pancakes. We were offered tea at multiple occasions. Marselino and his family are welcomming and accomodating.

AustraliaThere was nothing to dislike. I’m not sure if there was confusion with language barrier but I was quoted very high costs for the transport arranged by the homestay (almost 4 x the price of local bus and 2 x price of private bus). I ended up paying considerably less by arranging transport through other locals I met in town.
Comfortable and clean, lovely breakfast and a real sneakpeak of how local families live.
