Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

The mattress wasn’t that comfortable and the close distance to the next mosque let us wake up early.
It was really cosy and clean and the owner was very friendly.

The bathroom was very smelly and the water pressure was very low in the shower. The bathroom was the only negative of the room and stay in general. There is also no sink in the bathroom, if you want a sink you need to go into the common area. - FYI - There is a very loud call to prayer that happens every morning starting around 3-4AM. I am a very heavy sleeper, but even this woke me up as it is very close by. However, this is not a problem about the homestay, just a FYI for all future travelers.
Very friendly and helpful hosts that truly make you feel like you are at home! The location is great and felt very central for all of our needs. The homestay only has a couple rooms in total, so noise is not a problem and it is very quiet. The sheets and bedding were clean and the AC works very well. There is also covered parking inside the little "compound" for motorbikes.

There is decent but not powerful air conditioning. Wifi was weak and kept dropping my connection. Still, I'd recommend a stop here.
Great service, and the clean, soulfully decorated spaces and warm hospitality of a home and family, not a hotel and its staff. Bayu and family make a great effort to help you to feel welcome and comfortable. They offer additional tour services but they don't overly pressure guests. There's self serve coffee and filter water and the option to use a stove to cook.

Great host family; the house is located in a lovely and quiet neighborhood with many food options at a walking distance. Getting everywhere in Padang super easy using the taxi App.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. He send me to the nearest laundry. Always wait until i hop on the bike/car, telling me and the driver to be careful. Give touristy information. The room big enough for solo traveler. It feel like a home. Definitely will stay here when in Padang.

Wonderful budget option. Room is a little small, but has all the essentials. Staff super friendly and always greeting. It is outside of the city centre, but very close to one of the most famous restaurants, so I think the location is great.

Quiet location Clean room and linen Great hosts, Bayu is very friendly and knowledgeable who happens to speak English very well. Secure parking close to my room for my motorbike.

This is a great place to stay, lovely family and the area is well located! I loved my day trips with Bayu too and he was so helpful with information for the rest of my trip in Sumatra! I will definitely be back!

Everything was perfect
Everything. Nothing to complain about. The room was really clean and cozy. Bayu the host is amazing, he took me around the city and I had a great time with him. I recommend everyone to stay here and to meet Bayu, he also organize trips to meet the local tribes to the Mentawai islands. Highly recommend. I'll definitely come back again

Location was too far out for my liking, my mistake when booking. Be aware that it is a 20 or so minute grab ride away from the main area of town by the river. Incredibly loud mosques in the area that are impossible to sleep through at 5 am. Might be a useful location for 1 night if you are heading out of town or to the airport early the next day.
Clean and comfortable room with a lovely bathroom and good ac. Helpful friendly owner that booked a shared taxi for me to Bukkittinggi.

One of the nicest homstays I have ever been. Room is a bit small but really comfortable, everything is there what you need. All is perfectly organized and the hosts are so friendly! We had a really nice stay there and felt very welcome! Can totally recommend.

There is nothing negative to say about this property. Nothing!
This is a real home stay, probably the best in West Sumatra. The family members are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We could only stay three nights and wished we could stay longer. The rooms are clean, basic, and comfortable.

Bayu, the owner, is a studied Anthropologist, and has got very close relationships with original Mentawai people. Besides of that, he represents the best of a Homestay by a warm personal and inviting atmosphere to his guests.
