How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe setting is wonderful, and Lydia and the staff are very helpful and kind. We ate some fantastic fish in the evenings - especially the night it was cooked over a wood fire. My favourite food in Sumba. Also special to stay in a bungalow based on Sumbanese traditional style.
Some work on new accommodation is being completed. No problem with noise but it had temporarily changed the path to the bungalows. I struggled with the large steps on the alternate pathway.

Verified reviewThe room is confortable and make us feel like we were in a traditional house. Lydia was very helpful with everything we needed. We had some meals there and the food was very good.
Lots of mosquitos in the room, maybe a net in the toilet openings would help

Verified reviewIt was clean and had a beautiful big pool. The staff, especially the kitchen staff were very sweet.
There were unfortunately so many mosquitoes in the bathroom and room. The owner is definitely taking measures to limit them (fogging, mosquito nets etc) but there were still lots, enough for us to leave a few nights earlier than we had planned to stay. The location is very beautiful however very far from any other accom, restaurants or shops. They had a monkey kept in a tiny cage. It was very distressed and sad to see.

Verified reviewIt is family run and everyone is so nice and helpful. We went fruit shopping all together in town, and got a little insights into the local life which was nice. The access to the beach is great. Quiet and in nature.
Unfortunately a lot of mosquitoes in the room and the internet is not great. Was a problem because we had to work. But Lydia is constantly trying to improve things so I think in the future this will be solved. :)

Verified reviewWe love Asia and spend every year a month or more in the region. We found Three Queens exceptional for three reasons: First the location on the amazing and basically empty Rua Beach in beautiful Sumba. Second our hosts Lidya and Brad together with their three daughters and extended family pampered us throughout our stay with food and advice. Third, the four villas in traditional Sumba style are not only very beautiful, but also furbished and decorated with style and every detail is thought through.
During our visit, the construction of the pool area had not yet been finished, but it was nevertheless very refreshing to alter between swimming in the ocean and the pool

Verified reviewThree Queen Villa and Homestay is located at the mouth of a river. You have a beautiful view of the bay. This is not a beach resort but the host will help you to reach any place you desire to visit, and there's plenty of that. You feel taken care of and the food served is good.

Verified reviewA fantastic place to spend our first days in Sumba. I wish we could stay for longer. The place is located near the end of the road just across from a beautiful beach. Great surf. Lydia and Brad (and their three queens) are amazing hosts and we felt so incredibly welcome there. All the other guests we met were also great. Felt like staying with friends. Food was delicious, the breakfast is simple but the grilled fish dinner is incredible. Room was comfortable and the AC works well.
Construction noise from the new pool, which was unfortunately just being built when we were there. Apparently it finished just a few days after we left... With the pool finished its going to be great.

Verified reviewThere are many personalities to this beach whose fine sands are forever simutaeneously sculpted by both the outgoing river interacting with the seashore and tides. The bungalows are charming both in style and function, with good AC and hot water. Well-rounded, tasty and healthy farm breakfast to fresh grilled fish dinners in an environment that reminds me of being in a tropical farmland adjacent to wilderness open oceans alive with abundance. To top it all off, the friendly and family-style hospitality is 2nd to none. with the owner providing genuine empathy, local authenticity, and an understanding of tourism and transportation logistics in these remote lands.
Thank you Mr moolar looking forward to seeing you again in 3 months🤩🤩🙏🏻😇

Verified reviewThe host family was really nice with some cute kids. Nice villas with an ocean view. Lydia and Brad were so helpful with whatever we needed to ask for. We were able to share their fridge etc. Lydia can cook for guests. We enjoyed every dinner with all the guests at the dining area including some BBQ nights. And the location was the best for us surfers as it's just in front of the surf breaks. It would be great when the pool is finished. I'm looking forward to it. Great to get to know the family so I can come back next time!
There were lots of mosquitos in the villa. But we understand that maybe it was because there were some rainy days. Also if there were a few more tables and chairs in the dining area, it would be more comfortable to share with everyone.
Thank you so much for your exceptional rating. We are glad we could win your trust and provide you with the best. We hope to enhance this experience even further in the future. We are indeed looking forward to your next visit!
