Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndonesiaI would have liked a little more variety on the menu (maybe some lighter Indonesian dishes like soto).
Great location by Lake Toba and with direct drop off by the Tuktuk passenger ferry. Comfortable beds and rooms. Hot showers with good pressure. Excellent swimming pools and beautiful gardens. For us the most impressive element was how wonderful the staff were when two of our group of three fell ill and were unable to check out and continue with our travels as planned. Staff went out of their way to find space for us to stay for another night; we were reassured, checked on and really well looked after. To fit us in, we had to change rooms and staff were there to move us, carrying bags and making sure we were okay. They really went above and beyond to look after us. Special mention to Mr Jay who made it his business to make sure that we were okay and who helped us to reorganise our plans twice at short notice (once because of illness and once because of Lion Air!). Lovely people doing everything possible to help.

United KingdomThe hotel is undergoing construction which we were only warned about after we had booked and paid and is generally somewhat down at heel. There was a whiff of sewerage at times.
The breakfast and view was great. We had a view of the lake across 2 pools. The hotel arranged our transport to and from the airports. The ferry from Parapat dropped us off at the hotel pier.

MalaysiaOne suggestion for improvement would be to add a Qibla sign, as some travelers, especially Muslims, may not have access to check the direction.
The ambiance is fantastic, and the view is remarkable. My kids had a wonderful time exploring the area. You can also take a walk to the lake to enjoy a beautiful sunset—highly recommend visiting to experience it yourself. The room is spacious and comfortable, my room had a lovely garden view at the front and rice fields and mountains at the back, which was such a nice sight. The breakfast was delightful, and I absolutely loved the coffee.

PolandComplete lack of information about the possibilities of visiting Samosier Island and other attractions, no information about the possibility of transfer to Parapat. A boat to Parapat leaves from the hotel every hour, why does the reception not inform about it. No possibility of buying a ticket for Bas, Taxi to Medan or Berastagi, but you can do it in another restaurant nearby. Why does the hotel not care about the convenience of tourists by helping them organize transfers?
Very well located hotel on the shore of Lake Toba. Wonderful views of the lake and mountains. Very nicely planned buglalows and hotel rooms. Reception open 24 hours a day. Buffet breakfast, large selection of dishes. Wonderfully located restaurant overlooking the lake. Two swimming pools at guests' disposal with wonderful clean water. I recommend this hotel.

Indonesiait's a minor, there were ants in the room balcony
I like the location with a very nice view of Lake Toba, which has its own dock, a quiet place, fresh air, very clean, friendly, and fast response staff, even the hotel owner hands-on directly to take care of my complaints about the hot water in the bathroom, and they fixed it right away. The breakfast food is delicious, I like the ambiance, has a jazz music background just like in the cafe. One of the best hotels in the Samosir area The hotel has its own pier/dock, making it easier for guests if they need drop-off or pick-up by boat from other ports on Lake Toba. The price of boat tickets is quite cheap, only 30,000 rupiah per person one way and the hotel management helps guests purchase boat tickets.

AustraliaI was very sick during my stay and room service or check ins from staff would have been helpful. As a solo traveler it is difficult managing to get food, medication etc when you’re unwell so extra assistance there would have been really helpful.
Property was beautiful, right on the waterfront. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds were very comfortable. Wi-Fi and aircon were both working really well. Breakfast was the best I’ve come across in Indonesian hotels!

IndonesiaI didn't like the bathroom, since it wasn't really clean and gave a little bit of odor. Perhaps in the future, the staff could clean using the stain mold and give some good fragrance instead of camphor.
I like the weather for sure and the view behind the hotel. It would be very beautiful if the bar or restaurant were close to the lake so people could enjoy the beautiful scenery. But, in fact, I found that the beauty itself was just wasted since I couldn't see the lake view when eating at the restaurant.

Saudi ArabiaCleanliness in the room and bathroom can improve. We were in 2 rooms, but only 1 room was with the fan - the other are only AC.
The hotel was in the area of all other boutique hotels were. Getting to the hotel requires transport, going through narrow village road. The room was nice, looks like there are no connecting rooms, just next to each other, so logistically ok if your children can manage themselves. The staff was very helpful, doing their best to accommodate our needs as much as possible, and always willing to answer questions. The area was nice, right by the water, you can hire private jet ski, banana boat, speed boat to go around the lake. Breakfast area was nice overlooking scenic pier. Massage services was reasonably priced, wish we had more time to do everything. Breakfast spread was ok, not too bad, just enough, and halal. Around the area were market place and restaurants - not a walking distance unless you have a lot of time. Next to the hotel is a paddy field, making the place looks refreshing and spacious. Wifi working great.
