My visit to Trim on August 8–9, 2025, was an absolute delight! This charming heritage town in County Meath is a hidden gem that blends rich history with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The highlight for me was exploring Trim Castle, a stunningly preserved Norman fortress with breathtaking views from the keep—its history and grandeur are truly captivating. Wandering through the town’s quaint streets, I loved the cozy vibe of local cafes and pubs, where friendly locals added to the charm. The River Boyne walkway was perfect for a peaceful stroll, with beautiful scenery and a serene ambiance. Trim’s compact size made it easy to explore, yet there was so much to see, from the ancient ruins of the Yellow Steeple to the vibrant community spirit. Easily the most rounded town I have ever visited for a vacation. There was everything I could need there in order to support a trip, plenty of unique accommodations, dozens of attractions for free/cheap, and more than enough local places to grab a bite to eat! Give some time to this compact town brimming with history. A wonderful brochure is produced to explain the many historic landmarks and a circuit to tour them by car. So much going back to early Christianity and the powerful families who built Trim Castle and other structures. Loved our stay here!
Loved our stay here! Last 2 nights of a 2 week+ trip and loved Trim. We had 2 nice dinners in town 1 at Brogans Pub and one at the Stockhouse. Very easy to get from the house to town. Friendly and knowledgeable couple who run the house. I'd stay there again!Guest review byGail - 10.0
Trim and its surroundings are historically very interesting.
Trim and its surroundings are historically very interesting. Apart from visiting the Trim Castle, there are numerous other interesting old monastic sites, as well the Hills of Tara with an ancient monument and burial sites. Was a perfect room for just staying in and watching a movie in bed. Location was fabulous - just a two minute walk across Ireland’s oldest bridge and you were at Trim Castle! Room also had a view of castle which was nice. Bar looked good downstairs but we didn’t go. Shower was fabulous and there were lots of hooks to hang all your stuff/dry things out.
