Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only negative about our whole visit was when we went to the clubhouse to get something to eat we had asked for to get something to eat. We sat for quite some time and didn’t get any service. To be fair there was quite a few golfers who had just arrived to get something to eat. We left and went to the bar area where we got a great meal
The location was amazing and beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent

IrelandThe room was booked as a double room/ Double bed! We were given a room with two single beds pushed together! Very disappointing! Very uncomfortable!
Loved the Grounds, Staff, and the facilities. Could have asked for anything more except the issue with the bed. Two singles pushed together instead of a double. The booking was for a double!

Irelandfood and drinks were overpriced and the food a little fussy. However staff were helpful if minor changes to the dish were asked for, e.g. oysters to be served with just a slice of lemon. A bottle of Argentinian Melbec €45 we do not pay that in Dublin restaurants. The cost of two drinks in the bar at €20? no wonder we were the only couple there at 11pm on a Tuesday night. Also perhaps some simple evening entertainent, eg musican for a couple of hours would add to the atmosphere in the bar.
breakfast was excellent, good choice of healthy options, very well stafffed room excellent, clean, very spacious and included so many extras you often have to ask for in other hotels e.g. iron/ironing board, hair dryer Pool facilities good, cleaned regularly, Generally the staff in hotel were really excellent, friendly, always available and helpful, a huge asset to the hotel and a credit to their managers and training. Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained.

IrelandWe had a small issue with the lights in our room, they randomly came on three times during the night the first night. We spoke to the receptionist who sent someone up to take a look and then they called maintenance..unfortunately it didn't rectify the problem and we were woken a few times again the following night and it woke our daughter too. It's not the fault of the hotel staff, as they did try but it did mean we were quite tired for our stay 😅 This was the only negative aspect to our stay.
I've honestly never seen a hotel cater to so many different demographics at once.. between having a golf course, spa, kids club, activities on site and catering for pets, this hotel has it all and for a five star to be so down to earth and have a lovely friendly atmosphere was lovely. It is a very welcoming hotel and we never felt out of place like you would in a normal 5 star hotel. Staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful and so good with our almost two year old. Our junior suite was huge and perfect for our daughter to run around in. The beds were comfortable and they had a proper cot with a mattress for our daughter too, which was very helpful (as we had packed her travel cot mattress in the car, just in case). The shower was lovely and they had ESPA Toiletries which I love. They had everything you needed and more! We had dinner in the canopy restaurant one night and got room service the second night! The food was delicious, as were the cocktails! It's one of the best, If not the best, hotel in Ireland that we have stayed in. Just to be aware if you tip by card the servers dont see the money due to a new tax system (I think, she did explain it to us!) The only way to properly tip was in cash, I wish we knew this prior to arriving and they don't have an atm on site.

IrelandIt was my second time visiting and the hotel has since been refurbished, however this time we received our breakfast in the new part of the hotel and I think it takes away from the old feeling of the hotel. We previously had breakfast in the old rooms in the Manor House which was a highlight of the trip before.
I loved our room it was spacious and comfortable with little treats left on our pillow each evening. Love the grounds which were perfect to go for an evening stroll and also enjoyed the bar in the Manor House which was very cosy.

IrelandThe grounds are pretty unfriendly for pedestrians / children, with a lot of car traffic moving quickly and no real footpaths to take care of kids. The pool is pretty loud with kids during "kid time" so be prepared. Changing room tidiness / wet floors / etc were sometimes below standard.
Great facilities on really lovely and well maintained grounds. There are multiple food options on site, and the village is a short walk away (although not up to much). We had a great, quiet, and comfortable room with good views over the golf course. The pool was great for kids, and the old bar area was a wonderful place for a quiet pint.

IrelandThere was a wedding on and it was very hard to sleep with the music. We were on the 3rd floor and it was very loud in our room. Maybe non wedding guests should be put in rooms further away from ballroom.
Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. Staff were very nice to our little boy and the kids club was great. Our suite was lovely also.

IrelandWe have been travelling a good few years and it's the first time that I had a trip that was faultless.
Amazing experience from start to finish. We upgraded to a junior suite, and it was a super room . We dined at the canopy restaurant the food was out of this world . The bed was huge and super comfy. We were served by Martha, and what an asset she is to your business, she was so pleasant and nothing was a problem . The resort is on top of their game .

United KingdomWe have just returned from a week's stay at the Castlemartyr Hotel and Resort. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable week. The estate is very attractive with its own golf course and nice woodland walks close by. Our room in the hotel was very pleasant and very comfortable, as comfortable as we have had anywhere in the world. The attention to detail at the hotel is quite impressive. The decor is very attractive. The building is a nice mixture between old and new, so it provides very pleasant rooms, such as the Library, and at the same time the swimming, the other sports facilities and spa are very good too. There are small touches both in the hotel building and outside which makes for an interesting environment. We have seldom seen hotels with so many fresh flowers and indoor plants. The garden that immediately surrounds the hotel building is attractive with some very quirky sculpture. The food served in the hotel is of a particularly good standard and they appear to use a lot of fresh ingredients. BUT the thing that sets this hotel apart is the staff. Every single member of staff we met was so helpful and so pleasant, from the staff at the main door, the staff at the bar, the staff at the pool and spa, to the staff in the restaurant, to the cleaning staff. We would love to name them all but that would take too long. Well done, Team Castlemartyr, and thank you.
