How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewLocation was very good for sightseeing. Everything walking distance
No air conditioning so the room was hot , we opened windows but very noisy from outside. It was difficult sleep. Everything was old , furniture, carpets and TV. We asked to up grade room , but up graded room had old system TV, so we couldn’t watch what we wanted watching. Also one point, we didn’t have hot water to have shower. We complained but the response was so slow and they just said sorry,

Very noisy at night. With no ac, windows must be open and outside is loud till 4:30 am. Had to fill out form with info again on arrival (was tired). Is a very lively city with friendly people and the hotel is perfect for all nighters. Will just stay a few blocks further next time.

Verified reviewWe booked last minute because of layover in Dublin flight on our way to New York. Love the location so close to the temple bar area and also the bus stop is right across. We took double decker to couple of places. It was easy to roam the city for less than 20 hrs layover.Room was small but only used for sleeping. Bed was fine. Bathroom n beds were clean. Fan was a big plus. Loved that they had coffee making kettle with milk provided and real cup and saucers in the room!!! Front desk personnel very helpful!
Dear Sejal! Thank you for choosing Dublin Citi Hotel for your layover stay! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our convenient location near Temple Bar and found our room amenities satisfactory. Verified reviewGreat staff, nice bedding. Discounted parking but parking.
No air conditioning- opened window - couldn’t sleep bc either noisy bar patrons and street cleans at 3am. Way too hot with window closed but dampened some of the street noise. Discounted parking located 3 blocks from hotel- tough to carry luggage thru the city - would be nice for hotel to provide instructions to drop bags and then park.
Dear Karen Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry to hear that the warm night and outside noise made it hard for you to rest. As our building is heritage-listed, we aren’t able to install air conditioning, but we do try to offer other ways to keep guests comfortable, and we’ll continue looking at how we can make this better. With parking, we know carrying luggage through the city isn’t easy. That’s why we send instructions by email on how to drop bags at the hotel before heading to the discounted lot. We’re sorry if this wasn’t clear enough during booking your stay, and we’ll make sure to improve how we communicate this. We truly value your feedback and hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back for a more comfortable visit next time.

Verified reviewExcellent location in Temple Bar. Beautifully decorated hotel with lots of character. Loads of bars, restaurants & attractions nearby all within walking distance. Plenty of public transport options. Great bar & restaurant in the hotel too with welcoming and friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were a good size and bathroom immaculate. Our rooms were overlooking the main road so it was quite noisy with the window open as it's summer, but there were ear plugs provided! No noise with the window shut though. Will definitely stay again.
Dear Rob, Thank you so much for your lovely and detailed review – it truly means a lot to us! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed our central location in Temple Bar and that you appreciated the character and style of the hotel. It’s wonderful to know that our team made you feel welcome, and that you had a great experience both in our bar and restaurant, as well as at breakfast – we’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to the staff. We're also pleased the room size and cleanliness met your expectations, and we appreciate your understanding regarding the lively atmosphere outside – especially during the summer months. Basic accommodation, toilet handle falling out of cistern, tap was loose. Not worth the money we had to pay for the weekend. Very noisy pub attached to hotel
Dear Keri, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our central location and found the bed comfortable – it's great to know those aspects of your stay met your expectations! We're sorry to learn through your review that certain elements of the room did not meet the standard we aim to provide though. Please rest assured that these maintenance issues have been noted and passed on to our team for immediate attention. We also regret that the noise from the pub impacted your experience. While the lively atmosphere is part of the character of the venue and of Dublin's Temple Bar Area in general, we understand this may not suit everyone and will continue to look at ways to improve soundproofing where possible! We truly value your feedback, as it helps us improve both our facilities and guest experience! Thank you again for your comments, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future under more comfortable circumstances. Kind regards, Dublin Citi Hotel Management

Verified reviewCentral location and easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room was clean and beds were comfortable enough. It was very hot in the room so we were glad to have a window that opened for air flow. Front staff were friendly.
We knew we booked a small room, but it was so small there was no where to put our suitcases and they had to lay on the floor in front of the room door and bathroom door, which made it very awkward to get around in the space. The elevator could use some signage as to which button takes you to which area of the pub and hotel lobby.
Dear Blythe, Thank you for choosing Dublin Citi Hotel for your stay! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our central location, clean rooms, and friendly staff — we truly appreciate your kind words and recognition! Thank you also for your helpful suggestion regarding elevator signage. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our guest experience.
