How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewQuirky property - very spacious and comprehensive facilities
Taps in bathroom washbasin provided only a trickle. Had to resort to filling up a bowl several times from tap in the next door laundry room. Bed was only a basic double and the mattress was not of "hotel level quality"
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. No guest has ever before complained about the taps, thank you for bringing them to my attention. I would point out, that as Herlihy's is a rental property, that the taps are percussion taps, installed to prevent accidents/flooding. Therefore they are designed to flow more slowly than traditional taps. The bed is a standard double bed size sleigh bed as listed. Unfortunately, a mattress is very much to personal taste and requirements. But the one supplied is guaranteed to be of the highest quality available. It was unfortunate you didn't get to finish the run you were competing in, but hopefully next year you will. Therefore, I was delighted to be able to facilitate a late checkout, so you did not have to wait too long at the airport 1.5km down the road.

Verified reviewIt was a most unique quirky property in an excellent central location for exploring the area. The kitchen sitting area was the former pub but beautifully adapted providing everything you need whilst retaining many of the original features. The apartment is spotlessly clean and comfortable with good quality bed linen and towels provided. Marie is a delightful lady who lives next door who has excellent knowledge and recommendations for things to do and see. Parking is behind the property and also a very pretty garden . We had a most enjoyable week staying at Herlihy’s and would highly recommend.
Nothing
Thank you so much for your kind review. It was lovely to meet you both. I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Verified reviewHerlihy’s was centrally located to all of the best the region has to offer. Marie was an excellent host who has created a unique property. Easy to access parking onsite, and there is a fabulous and well provisioned general store across the road - so convenient. Having a clothesline was a added bonus, but there is access to a dryer if it’s not an outside drying day. The place is spotlessly clean. Would recommend if you’re looking for a base to explore the area.
Nothing.
Thank you so much for your kind words Lisa. It was my pleasure to be your host.

Verified reviewThe convenience, good public transport options to Killarney and Tralee, good local pub, good mini supermarket across the road, lovely weather, nice friendly neighbours and towns folk, the lovely garden and useful clothesline. Marie’s help and advice and charm, especially the logistics of allowing us to leave our luggage without having to lug it to Kerry airport to collect our hire car for onward journey
Initially the busy road was concerning, but not an issue after orientation, quite safe and Herlihys well insulated, not disturbed during the night….nor during the day.
Many thanks for your mostly positive feedback.

Verified reviewThe apartment was a lovely, clean, quaint & quiet place that used to be a family run bar. The kitchen is still in the style of the bar and has all the modern facilities for making food and a relaxing area to watch TV. The bedroom and bathroom are stylish & very comfortable. Marie was a very helpful and accommodating host thank you.

Verified reviewGreat place, just in between the 2 peninsulas, it allowed us to visit both places and come back to a nice bed :)
The town is really tinny, you need to be strategic with the logistics for dinner or you won't be able to eat at night.

Verified reviewThis house is perfectly placed to easily see the area. As well as being on a main road and near the fantastic national park it is only 10 mins walk from the station and the train to Kilarney takes 15 mins. The decor is fun, colourful and quirky! we loved it! the outside spaces are a bonus and its all very pretty and well kept.
Maybe being able to open a window in the main living room as it was a touch stuffy at night but the sofa bed was really comfortable.

Verified reviewA lovely quirky place. In a perfect location for exposing Dingle peninsula and the ring of Kerry. And our host, Marie, was very welcoming and helpful.
It’s at a rather busy intersection so there is some traffic noise. Nothing that kept us awake though

Verified reviewSpacious and unique space. Huge shower and really clean. Host was more than helpful with any question I may have had. Off street parking and shared outdoor space.
Quite far from city center of Killarney with not many options for food/conveniences without a car.
Thank you for your kind words and I am glad you enjoyed your stay, despite Herlihy's being 15km from Killarney as stated in the listing. There is a supermarket across the road from Herlihy's, a take away two doors down, a pub/restaurant and coffee shop at the other end of the village (menus for all three are available in the kitchen/living area), approximately a three minute walk away.
