Decor in the breakfast room is a little dated and it's a large noisy room. But the food was excellent!

Bedrooms are very modern, newly done up. We had three beds in our room. Spacious bathroom. Large hotel with excellent facilities. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating.

My sisters room in the retreat wasn’t as nice as my room with the wear-and-tear clearly visible. The degrading of the hodson bay retreat is noticeable. The price does not reflect what my sister paid for. The breakfast has changed over the past few years with self catering limited, due to a worker putting hot food on your plate due to cleanliness, this is very uncomfortable. Also, the bar wasn’t able to show live football matches on sky sports and most live television, this isn’t what you would normally expect from a hotel bar, other hotels offer this as a basic while having a drink in the bar.

Our room on the old side of the hotel was absolutely superb. The food was lovely.

The high level of customer service from the cleaning staff through to management was the highlight of the stay. All interactions involved eye contact and positive body language, making me feel like they genuinely wanted to help. The room was lovely with comfortable beds. Breakfast can get busy but I feel it was managed in an efficient manner and the breakfast manager was lovely.

Check in wasn't until 4 and then we had to be out by 11 the next day- it seems like an hour was shaved off both sides. In my experience check in is usually at 3 and check out at 12 the next day. Unfortunately one of the lifts was broken which made getting to our room a little more awkward and I had family members get very lost when finding theirs.

The food was delicious and the beds comfortable.

The rooms are well-maintained and tidy. On the first night, the bed was smaller than expected, and the mattress did not provide adequate comfort. The staff assisted in relocating to a different room that offered a more suitable and comfortable arrangement.

There was only 1 lift for guests and the hotel was very large with nearly 200 rooms. We had a long walk too our room, this wouldn't suit everyone

The location was beautiful, the room was very nice and modern with a really comfy bed and pillows we had everything we could ask for, the room was nicely decorated and very clean. the reception area had lovely seating areas inside snd out in the front glass covered porch

Waited an hour and half to be checked in, said they’d let us know when the room was ready but didn’t so we had to keep going to the desk and on last occasion our room key had been sat there! Expensive to stay Disappointed the hotel isn’t actually on the lake, the car park is in between. Expensive to get a taxi to and from Athlone which is only 8-10mins in the car

Bed was very comfortable and room a good size. The bar staff were very nice The swimming pool was a great bonus and staff there were welcoming and helpful Breakfast was fabulous and the young girl dishing it out was lovely The food in the hotel was delicious
