How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewWe had a lovely 3 night stay in Mary's apartment. The well equipped kitchen had a coffee machine and an air fryer! There was a lovely welcome pack of tea, milk, cereals and treats etc. left for us. The living area was nice and spacious with a very comfortable sofa and good Wi-Fi too. This apartment is in a great location and although it is in the centre of the village, it was quiet at night time. We enjoyed getting takeaways from Café Rosa, Nico's Takeaway and Mena's Chipper, which were very close by. We visited Carlingford and Templetown Beach and walked part of the greenway from Omeath to Carlingford. Thank you Mary, we had a lovely weekend.

Verified reviewExceptional property, pristine clean, incrediblycomfortable, great location, lovely views, a minute from the lough, tasty chipper and coffee shop. Mary the landlady went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. She was incredibly kind & helpful, and checked in with us to make sure everything was ok. Left us plenty of tea, coffee, snacks, cereals and milk for our arrival. The care she takes with the property and took with us was extraordinary. Big thank you to her.

Verified reviewThe home was cozy and beautifully put together. It is the cleanest place I have ever stayed in on any vacation. Hotels or short-term rentals, no matter the stars, none have come close to how clean this rental was. Right by the water and very peaceful. My family very much enjoyed our stay. There were games provided. The host even had baby blankets, a few baby toys, a cot a highchair, and a night light set out for my little ones.

Verified reviewThe apartment was better than the photos. It was very clean and comfortable and very spacious. Mary has supplied good quality fixtures and fittings. It felt more like a home than a holiday let. The "extras", milk, tea etc., plus cereal, biscuits and toiletries were the cherry on the top 👌 .
Nothing.

Verified reviewReceived a code with detailed description from the property owner in plenty of time before arrival. No problem to gain access with parking close by. The apartment is lovely, just beside coast, has two spacious bedrooms, spacious living room, suitable bathroom and kitchen with dining room round table - small enough to eat for four but adequate. Decoration throughout is tasteful and well equipped. Second bedroom has items for smaller children but we were all adults. It is located close to the greenway - with some work being done on it, but links to Newry and to Carlingford are good, both within a few minutes drive. House access is via steps up from street parking and again to the apartment so has to be considered if that's an issue. Green space in front of the apartment with picnic bench. Lovely welcome package of cereal etc. which is a good touch. Excellent communication with the property owner. The information guide is exceptional!
Everything was lovely but possibly one or two 'house notes' too much - not for myself but one of my party found them irksome or excessive. Cannot fault the apartment or attention to detail.

Verified reviewThe location is exceptionally good for families. There is a playground right across the street, a lovely café right in the front of the house, amenities like post office and pharmacy a two-minute walk away, supermarket for basic needs a ten-minute walk. The water is close, as well, and Celtic Clays pottery just up the road for beautiful gifts and souveniers!
A dishwasher would have been helpful, but not essential. Other than that, no complaints!
