How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe owners are really nice and helpful. They have a live band in the bar with a nice atmosphere. There is food truck outside where you can buy food and eat at the bar. The location is beautiful. Highly recommended if you arrive at Shannon Airport and you need to sleep on your way to Galway.
It was lovely to meet you & have you stay with us! Enjoy the rest of your trip 🇮🇪

Verified reviewOwner was friendly.
Was not 2 double beds as advertised. Bathroom very small.
Hi Susan It was lovely to meet you & have you stay with us. It’s really disappointing that you would not recommend us and score us so low. Regarding there not being two double beds as advertised, you were given the quieter room with a double & single bed, this was mentioned to you at check in. We relocated other guests, who were going to enjoy the bar & live music to accommodate you & your elderly mother. It’s really not helpful to hear this now as we would have happily put you into the other room. Please express any concerns in person & we can accommodate you. We are very approachable & happy to help. En-suite is not something we can change due to restrictions. There is a larger bathroom you can use, but again, if you had expressed your concerns in person, we could have accommodated you. We hope to offer all guests a pleasant stay, it’s best for both parties to communicate when there are any issues to ensure you are accommodated well as going away unhappy & commenting negatively in an online review is no help to either party.

Verified reviewLoved the warm, friendly welcome and the chat with locals in the bar. Think if the lovely owner had more help, support etc and improved breakfast and provided room refreshments , this beautiful building could be a winner as a B and B. Wishing you the best of luck with everything! Don't give up!
No coffee/tea making facilities in room. Not allowed to take food to room but no restaurant or meals provision. Having to get own breakfast with poor quality provisions and no cooking allowed. Inadequate, small ensuite with no bath mat and empty shampoo and conditioner containers. Uncomfortable pillows.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and comfortable. The owners were charming and welcoming.
The ensuite door didn't close fully. There was no towel rail. The noise from the pub below was very loud. It would have been nice to have a television in the room. Breakfast - self-service - was disappointing and not generous. Overall, we felt it was expensive.

Verified reviewWe stopped off for a night on our way to visit the Burren, and we were so pleased!! The room was comfortable and we slept great in the quiet country setting. The owners and bar are wonderfully inviting and friendly. We awoke to the smell of fresh baked scones that were the best we had in Ireland. Thank you Niamh and Martin!!
If you're visiting during the week be sure to get food in town before you arrive. There is food in Gort. On the weekend the bar has food trucks and music.

Verified reviewIt's truly a pub for the locals, that gives us tourists a good idea what it is like to live in an out of the way place community. However, it is very close to the Burren National Park, and within driving distance of the overcrowded tourist hubs like the Cliffs of Moher. We truly enjoyed the live music on the weekend evenings, and the foodtruck nextdoor was a gem. Lovely hosts, and I wish them all the best for the future, so they can keep building their clientele in this very special place. You have stolen our hearts!
