Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Everything was brilliant
We spend a good time in this guest house, everything was clean, we watched movies on the projector in the backyard. Beo (the owner) was happy to help us book kayaking, advised us on which restaurants had the best food and generally solved all our problems (I forgot my phone adapter at home and he lent me his, we needed a cab at night and he booked it for us). I had an amazing experience in Varkala largely due to the owner of this house. Thank you for the wonderful service, next time we are in Varkala we will choose JayBees again

We found the homestay very cosy and convenient. It has awesome location and the host Beo is very helpful. We forgot the phone charger and he promptly couriered it the same day. The property is also very competitively priced. Overall we enjoyed our trip to Varkala and I would recommend people to stay here.

It's beautiful. The entire villa is located perfectly at walking distance from Black Beach. But plz carry your own bathroom amenities a they provide basic minimum one only

We are very happy, but a big mirror in the room would be a plus and an improvement...
Very good accommodation, 10 min walk from the cliff, so if you want to be away from the busy area, this peaceful place is perfect. The staff is great as well as the owner. The place is clean and as discribed in the pictures. We are very happy with our stay.

Excellent place away from the tourist husale , but close enough for everything that’s scenic in varkala. The space is super clean, well equipped and gives you a lush green stay

It's a great place to stay with family and friends. I travel with kids (2 years old) so preferred to cook myself. All the items were readly available at the property and grocery and other items we can get in 5 mints walkable distance. Apartment was neat and clean. Near by cliff. We have common projector area at lawn, we can enjoy a nice movie time with friends. Enjoyed our trip to the most at this property with peaceful environment.Host beo was so friendly.

The host makes sure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay, we reached stay little late in the night but he waited for our arrival handed over the keys and gave us the home tour and gave suggestions on the places to visit. We faced electricity issue due to some connection problem he made sure he called the electrician and fixed the issue, we had facility of hot water everything arranged. Overall the stay was comfortable with longue and projector facility in balcony, I recommend friends and family this stay for vacation.

The double mattress was a bit small and made for a squishy sleep but we were super grateful to have AC and a fan in our room! Despite the odd gecko the place was very clean and tidy. Would return.
Loved our stay at JayBee’s! The host was very helpful when we arrived and gave us great restaurant recommendations. The apartment was in a great location with an easy walk to the beach.

A great homestead! Beautiful territory. Everything is very clean. Everything is done with love for the guests. Good value for money. A quiet place. Good location. There is a projector in the courtyard, where you can watch a movie from your phone or a plan.
