Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandTraveling by car requires some additional effort, as it is a bit more complicated to park a car close to the hotel, especially when you have heavy luggage.
The communication with the personnel was good. We had clear instructions on how to get into our room. The shuttle bus from the airport provides a very nice and perfectly managed transportation almost to the door of the hotel. The breakfast diversity is sufficient, and it was tasty. There is a nicely equipped kitchen facility, so one can prepare the food without problems.

CanadaMy one and only quibble is with the bathroom. The building is obviously on the older side, and while the room itself was spotless, the bathroom is on the grody side. This is not due to lack of cleaning. For example, the grout in the shower has darkened in places (mold?) It looks like some water-proofing compound was applied to the base of the shower stall, but it was a sloppy job, making it look a mess and off-putting. Shower stall is also smallish.
Every staff member I interacted with could not have been more friendly, kind, helpful and accommodating. The location is central to all that Reykjavik has to offer. It's within walking distance of the most popular sights and attractions, with many restaurants in the immediate area. As food is monstrously expensive in all of Iceland, if you want a really budget meal, there is a Bonus grocery store just a 4 minute walk away on Laugavegur. I had a private room and I love that it had a fridge and kettle which was not only for making tea and coffee. I used it for making ramen noodles purchased at Bonus.

ChinaRoom was a bit small. With our suitcases open on the floor, there was little space left to walk around.
Location is really fine with bus stop 9 right down the foot of the building. There’s a supermarket nearby. 10-15min walk from bus stop 8, which was by the Hallgrimskirkja.

United StatesOutdoor signage! When you send a pic of the lock, please include a pic of the corner sign (to find the building) and the plaque by the door (to find the entrance) I was looking for GuestHouse not GISTHUS. You could also say, it’s “next to a Chinese restaurant”. Their signage was prominent. Please add a grab bar because stepping out of the shower and so far down is treacherous with nothing to hold on to.
Minimalist, inexpensive.

CanadaParking, or lack thereof Need a clear statement that this is guesthouse 101 hotel, a different place than guesthouse 101 a few streets away We arrived at the incorrect location to drop off our bags, no email had been received that morning as promised. No one at wrong address answered the bell, another resident let us inside, so we left our bags and went out for the day. Imagine our surprise when we returned, got into email and had received a description and photo of a very different place. All worked out in the end, but other travelers told us they have had similar experiences.
