Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The bed was too soft and uncomfortable. The cleanliness was okay, not exceptional.
Great location, very close to city center, still quiet nonetheless. Alfred was really nice. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Descriptions and information matched the unit accurately. Checkin and directions given were positive and accurate. The room was clean, had all we needed to make our 2 night stay very comfortable. Staff we met were friendly and had plenty of local information available to make it easy. Walking access within the area was very easy and it was easy to drive in and out of the cirt from here. This unit is accurately described regarding size, amenities and space.

The stay was great! Location so perfect and for the price it was exeptional! The room was really good and it had everything needed to enjoy a great stay. Owner was really sweat and helpful and gave us such a good welcome. All in All we really recommend the stay.

Not much ideas how to improve it, just need to be considered: when wind is blowing outside it is also blowing a little bit inside the room and beds are too close to the windows. And sounds from the neighbours shower could impress you.
Alfred's Apartments is quite a good apartment for short term. It is very small, but has almost all you need - table, 4 chairs, 2 beds, blinds for windows, kitchen with staff, shower. Location is perfect - center, about 5 minutes walk from Halgrim Church.

The only thing we didn’t like that much was that the room had windows to the street and you could hear people passing by and talking.
The location and the staff are amazing. The room was very big and for two people was excellent.

The sound insulation upstairs/downstairs/hallway wasn't great so you could hear people going up & down the stairs in the morning - perhaps a thinker carpet may help dampen the sound. Table & chairs for the balcony would be a nice addition. Would still very much recommend.
Great location just off the main shopping/restaurant street. Very friendly host, who had very kindly upgraded our apartment. Apartment had everything necessary and was nicely fitted & furnished. Overall excellent value for money in central Reykjavik and would happily return!

Nothing big- room got a bit too hot and we had to keep the window cracked open. Not a big deal

Bed was two singles pushed together so meant that we often had to try and put the double sheet that was over them back on but this wasn’t a major issue at all !
It was in the perfect location! Had a good range of kitchen utensils and appliances so when you wanted to make something yourself you could easily do it!

bed, it is 2 twin bed that was combined... it slips and separate...
location is excellent... host is very kind. apartment is only 300ft to Bonus supermarket... close to all attractions in Reykjavik
