Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandI had some difficulty initially with the door code but my husband used it with no issue. We found that pressing * before entering the code helped which might be good to point out to others. We saw others having issues with their codes and also one night I could hear someone having difficulty using their door code in the middle of the night so it seems to be a common issue! Wasn't major for us but just to note.
Lovely, comfortable room in a fantastic location at the bottom of the rainbow street. Good facilities in the room for making breakfast/tea/coffee with access to a shared kitchen. The host was able to tell me where to park nearby also which was helpful!

United States of AmericaThe only negative, which was a really big negative is that the lock on the second floor to access our unit on the third floor failed multiple times during the day and through the night and friends were locked out for hours at a time. This happened to us multiple times. The lock must be changed. All 9 of us at different times had problems. The contact was responsive but it was a problem when it happened in the middle of the night. Also, a staff person walked into the flat unannounced and my friend was half naked in the kitchen. They need to improve privacy and respect that when rented you cannot enter like that freely. Considering how much we paid for the third floor unit the above is totally unacceptable. We should have been reimbursed partially. All we got was a 2 hour later check out.
Steps away from restaurant scene and night life, central bus stop 6 only one block way for any type of pick up, grocery store and the waterfront; the private terrace is an amazing feature we used and we saw the northern lights from it; amazing large space in the rooms and the common area in the photo. True to photos and description. The cleaning crew was excellent. The place was spotless. They did a great job. This is an excellent choice if you are a group of friends or multiple families that want to be all together. You can cook and save money this way. The lighting is beautiful in the flat and the rooms are super comfortable and modern. Every room has an onsuite bathroom.

United States of AmericaThere is no elevator which isn't a huge deal but we had big heavy suitcases to carry up and down them so that wasn't great. The code we were given was wrong but they sent someone to resolve the issue and help us in right away. We left snacks out in the kitchen on the counter, cleaning took them probably thinking they were left, so I would recommend keeping your (non refrigerated) food in the room if applicable.
The location is great, right in the heart of Reykjavik at the end of Rainbow St. We stayed in the pent house, the balcony is really nice, has an awesome view of the city as well as ocean/mountains. There is a nice espresso maker with the coffee provided, kitchen is well stocked and clean. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of pillows, which wasn't the case at the other ab&b we stayed. It was easy to contact the host with questions and the staff was very nice - they helped us carry our luggage up the stairs.

Italythe private bathroom was outside the room. private, but outside, so if you have to pee in the night you will wake up your parner getting back in with the door code saying "door open" and the bathroom door is in the kitchen area, so not ideal
The location is great, and the room has huge windows so there's light a nice street view

United KingdomThere’s a bar above (or near) which plays loud karaoke very late! It was challenging getting to sleep because of it and I wish I had known this before booking. Hopefully it’s just a weekend occurrence (we only stayed Friday night).

PolandIt supposed to be bathtub - that’s why i choose this apartment, bathtub was my priority and after i made booking i got information it will be just shower because they changed it. Also when i got this information i can’t cancel the booking because u will lose my money so this was big minus for me because it’s was saying this bathtub will be there and it wasn’t.

United Kingdomvery noisy night with fellow guests upstairs having a full-blown party! and as this is a self-service accommodation there was no one on site to address this. I had to call the number of the management of the property well past midnight to make a complaint. the person on the phone sounded like she was out with friends. after explaining the situation she said she would send someone to check but it was well over an hour until they were able to stop the party. we had little rest because of this. if you’re looking to book this area due to its good location, I’d highly recommend looking 1 or 2 streets away as it will be a lot more peaceful and less noisy. on a Friday night that area of the city was full of drunk locals and tourists, not a good impression of an otherwise pretty small town.
nice and modern

we really enjoyed the location and how clean it was. anything you might need can be found in the kitchen, we even managed to make some coffee! the bed is super comfy as well.

Perfect location for a first timer in Iceland as it is centrally located. You have everything within the neighborhood! Property was right in front of the famous rainbow street and very close to the famous church in Reykjavik. Property was very clean and modern. It has all the amenities.

United KingdomThe room we had faced onto the main street - whilst it was a nice room on the whole, I would advise bringing earplugs if you are planning on staying on a Friday or Saturday as the bass from the nearby venues is very loud and continues until the early morning.
Great location in the centre of Reykjavik. Good communal space with some basic cooking facilities (helpful for saving some pennies in Iceland!). Convenient to access with keyless entry and a nice terrace outside.
