Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. just a warning for more infirm travellers - steep outside staircase and steep twisting inside staircase to access property (2nd floor). So if have heavy luggage or mobility issues, not the best place although property itself is clean and lovely and location great.

The only thing was that we were there over the weekend and Friday and Saturday nights are quite noisy even with the windows closed. Sunday night was great.
The location and apartment itself were great.

The property is located on the main street in Reyjavik, consequently noisy until late at night. Then street cleaner comes past at 0600hrs

Like: Clean, modern, good sized rooms (inc bathroom). Very central location so easy to navigate to and from. Dislike: Constant noise from the main street, limited kitchen facilities e.g. microwave.

Communication leading up to the trip could have been a little better and made me feel anxious about getting what we needed. We had a young person who ended up unable to share a bed with her sister as originally planned and I was initially told bedding would be provided for the couch. Then that this wasn't possible. We did eventually get bedding for the couch but this became an anxiety until our arrival.
Excellent location, beautiful apartments with lovely clean rooms. We brought a group of young people here on an exchange visit as a youth work team and they had a lovely time exploring Reyjavik, made more comfortable by these apartments

1. Keys were made available 2 hours later than promise forcing us to wait in the cold for a very longtime without compensation 2. Cleaning was not great and we found empty cans of beers under the sofa

The password screen for the electric door isn't very sensitive. Pressing 8 always outputs 5, which drives me crazy.

1 bathroom for 6 people. Lack of toilet tissue given for 6 people. The sewage smell from the bathroom but it seems common in Iceland.
Enough space to fit 6 people. In prime location, easy access to shops and bars, great for group.

The stairs can be a bit tricky if you carry luggage
Great location, comfortable beds and super clean :D It can get a bit noisy, cause it's right over Laugavegur, but that didn't bother us. The check-in was very easy and the host replied to every question we had in a timely manner.

Nothing to not like.
The unit is so beautiful! Love the location right on the main shopping street and just a block away from from supermarket. It’s also on the ground level which didn’t require us to carry our bags as most apartments in Iceland don’t have lifts.

We read all the reviews and were aware that this location is noisy. It is! It is on THE MAIN tourist street, so it's noisy even late at night. The other downside we saw noted is there is no microwave. This would have been helpful to heat up quick meals when we were in a hurry. Also, the one bedroom has a queen bed, however, due to this, the door does not close. It's directly across from the bathroom, so it's hard to sleep in. And of final note, there was a lack of washcloths, paper towels, laundry detergent. Also no booklet with "best of" in the area, like restaurants, shopping, etc.
The apartment was very clean and in a great location - central to the shops and local attractions. The beds were very comfortable, and they had black out curtains on the bedroom windows. Check in and check out were a breeze. We were able to park only a couple blocks away, in P2 and P3 parking areas, using PARKA. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Only complaint was that we could not control the temperature. Parking can be very difficult.
Great location and a cute place! Felt safe with the keyless entry and being on the 2nd floor.

The location was great, but noisy in the late evenings as the bedrooms faced the street. It was very clean, but there was a very unpleasant odor from the drains in the bathroom that didn't go away. The hosts were very responsive and helpful during our stay. Nice clean apartment!

The front door lock (code system) gave us a little trouble but the host was responsive to our needs.

Not the properties fault but bring earplugs as being so central means there’s noise throughout the night.
Amazing location, couldn’t be more central. Got everything that’s needed. Lovely host and replies so quickly when needed.
