Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesBecause we were below ground, there was more noise at first than we expected. Laughter carried too well, but eventually died down.
Our room was below ground, with a shared shower and toilet. The sharing of facilities worked well, and our bed was very comfortable. The history of the guesthouse was prominently shown in the dining room, and we had a pleasant breakfast (to order).

IcelandInstructions could be a little clearer how to pick up keys to get into the house for late arrivals. But this information was actually provided, so I´m just putting this here to fill the box with something!
The house is a living museum and we loved the old charm classic interiors. Bed mattresses are great as are pillows - and we know our pillows! The rooms do not have separate bathrooms but common ones but this is quite acceptable since usually one of them is available and they are very spacious, clean and well equipped.

United StatesThere was no host. We were checked in by a guy passing by on a fork lift and we never saw any staff again. The upper level rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean with pretty views only on the water side, but Breakfast was non-existent, not served in the beautiful dining room… instead we went down to a dark lower level and found sour milk and other tired items in a small refrigerator. We just left and ate elsewhere.
Love the building, views, photos of family generations.

IcelandVery clean. Bed matress and pillows excellent. Very spacious, well equipped and clean common bathrooms (was our main concern before stay and thus really exceeded expectations). We did not buy breakfast but it looked ok.

IcelandWe would have liked either thicker or more pillows. The amenities were very basic, but ok for the price
Einarshúsið is pleasing to the eye with a rich history. A bit eerie, but enjoyably so. The shared bathrooms were clean and well kept, and there were a few of them, so there was never a wait. The staff was friendly. The restaurant serves good pizza into the evening and has a varied selection of beverages. We would stay here again.

IcelandAs it's an old guesthouse, it can be a bit loud, but not unmanageable. Breakfast was fine, but expensive and not overall worth it. Everything else was good.
An old guesthouse in a gorgeous little fjord in the Westfjords of Iceland. This was a perfect place for our family of 7 to spend a couple of days as a base while exploring all the beauty that the Westfjords has to offer. Rooms were fairly spacious, and the shared bathrooms were nice and well kept. Overall a great little stay.

United KingdomUnfortunately.. The basement room although beautiful was my daughters least enjoyable room of our entire Iceland trip. And we are not fussy! They Did not like the smell or the downstairs bathroom. Returant: we ordered Pizza dinner our first night, the place was full since the only decent place in this quaint town and the good reviews. Because of under staff food never came out. managed to watch the whole England vs Netherlands semi final on a big screen down stairs in the basement.. and still no dinner. Finally, and with a full apologies from young and very friendly staff , had a tasty Chicken Pizza ( but the one with sweet potatoes wasn't - they were not cooked.. ) So my conclusion; Corner suite or any other on the top floor - definitely. Basement although beautiful, probably not
Ok this is going to be a mixed review! We, a family of 5 booked for 2 nights for the sake of sailing to Hornstrandir day tour , which was cancelled due to bad weather. Booked the corner suite + the basement room for my 18&15 ages girls. As all reviews, this place was extraordinary unique - loved the décor, the antiques; large room.Beds were extremely comfy, 2 clean shared bathrooms on the floor. Probably my favourite room out of a 14 night stay!!! Has a refrigerator down stairs for the use of guests; huge TV screen!! Watched the House of the Dragon episodes I've missed.. and the euro semis!!! Very friendly young staff!!!

CanadaThe location is really convenient if you are visiting this area. We wanted to see Isafjörður and this guesthouse was the most affordable in the area and is only a 10 minutes drive from Isafjörður. We were cozy and the place is lovely. It was quiet and calm. We did not regret our choice!

United StatesThey offer breakfast, but unlike the carefully planned dinner menu, there wasn't anything of note and no hot items. It was cold cuts like bologna, a slice of cheese, a hard-boiled egg, and bread. We opted to start our morning camp style the next day instead. Rooms run small, the queen bed uses up most of the floorplan. Size isn't terrible but something to keep in mind if you have more than one suitcase. The radiators are old, room 3 needs a tune-up since the control knob spins in place, making it hard to get any heat out.
Nice proximity to the harbor and other hikes or scenic drives. The dinner menu is good and they offer gluten-free pizza. There is a sink in the room, but it was rare that both restrooms were busy given the small number of rooms. No noise issues; the main dining area clears out by 21:00 or 22:00. The staff were friendly.

AustraliaWe were hoping to have dinner at the property but it wasn’t offered which was disappointing. The breakfast was bacon and eggs, toast. An alternate cereal and fruit etc. would be appropriate.
The old property has lots of history. The rooms are decorated nicely. The host was helpful on where to eat in the neighbouring big town.
